What is you priority? Assuming cut always top what about the rest?

$, carat, color, clarity? Do you want a H&A?

For that range,

If you prefer an IF stone and don''t mind H color $12290 This one score 1.9. I don''t know if u can ask for IS from salomon bros.

I guess I'm not sure what the priorities "should" be. I'm guessing cut should always be a top priority. I'd really like to shoot for 1.5ct. Other than that, I just want it to look clear and shiny... no visible color or cloudiness.

What are the typical priorities for those who are very knowledgeable in diamonds?

ps. Not sure why my smileys above turned into a "J."

. darn it trying again

Just did a quick vendor search - assuming you want F-H, VS1-VS2. If you want to get the most for your buck, and you''re not colour sensitive, try looking into H-J eyeclean SIs.

You guys are so helpful in giving me a place to start. I also emailed Whiteflash and here are the ones they picked out for me, given my vague descriptions.

1.543 ct I VS2 Whiteflash ACA - 10,949 http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Diamond_Details.aspx?idno=1466947
1.703 ct I VS2 Whiteflash ACA - 13,508 http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Diamond_Details.aspx?idno=1466936
1.518 ct G VS2 Whiteflash ACA - 14,768 http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Diamond_Details.aspx?idno=65065 (SAME ONE YOU GUYS POINTED OUT)
1.52 ct H VS1 Whiteflash ACA - 13,151 http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Diamond_Details.aspx?idno=2219632

1.418 ct G VVS1 Round Ideal Cut - 13,409 http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Diamond_Details.aspx?idno=2192367
1.508 ct G SI1 Round Ideal Cut - 12,012 http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Diamond_Details.aspx?idno=2192310
1.516 ct G VS2 Round - 13,660 http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Diamond_Details.aspx?idno=2192313
1.587 ct H VS1 Round Ideal Cut - 13,528 http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Diamond_Details.aspx?idno=2219633

If I don''t pay via bank wire, do I go by the regular price or pricescope price?

I''m highly considering this one that you guys recommended (http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Diamond_Details.aspx?idno=65065), but will still need to look at the others that were posted. I just wanted to put these out there to see if there are any other comments.

Do I have to worry about seeing yellow in it because it''s a G as opposed to a D, E, or F?

My FI''s ER is a G set in WG and looks white as can be

You can see pics on the thread in my signature.

Best thing to do is to go out and look at some G color ideal cuts in a local B&M to see how color sensitive your eyes are. Though for me, I can''t see a whole heck of a lot inside many jewelry stores with what they do with the lighting. All I usually see is glare.

Glad things are coming along for you Noob

Thanks, I''m still reviewing all the stones that were recommended above. (still a little slow

)

But I need to find a stone fairly quickly. I contacted the setting company and they said the fastest they would be able to make the ring was 3-4 weeks. I need it by the end of this year

Ditto going to BMs to look, but I really think unless you have superhuman eyes or you''ve trained yourself as a painter or designer or something you''re not going to see any tint, and even then it''s doubtful with a G. You can also be sure that people your FI-to-be shows it off to won''t see anything at all when it''s set, trained eyes or not.

I will definitely try to make it out to a b&m within the next couple of days. Good suggestion.

I think I''m starting to get stuck playing the numbers (specs) game, when realistically and visually, you guys are probably right and most people wont be able to see a difference.

No, GIA do not grade if a stone is H&A, they are just reporting that someone inscribed a H&A on the girdle of the stone.
Ugghh. I still have sooo much to learn, but so little time. Ignorance is bliss. lol. I thought giving myself 2 months would be plenty of time, but little did I know. I just glad you guys are here to help.

So who can certify it as a H&A diamond? AGS?

This one posted above (http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6516/) looks good to me too and it''s described as a Hearts and Arrows diamond.

Neither AGS nor GIA will state that a diamond is H&A, though as Stone-cold said they will both note if H&A is inscribed on the girdle.

True H&As are specifically cut that way, and sold by individual companies as H&A, so it is the vendor making that call. WF, GOG, Infinity, etc. H&As are held to a very tight standard, JA too for the most part though several consumers advise double checking.
