Option 1: 3 stone ring- X-Factor Princess (or Jubilee) with Asscher sides.

Option 2: 5 stone ring- Asscher center, trap (or other step cut) and RB sides.

Love my keystroke visual aids?!

The problem I am having is that I love Asschers but don''t want to be without the type of sparkle from a RB or another non-step cut diamond... I want both types

Anyway, both would have a 3-sided pave band but not large enough to satisfy the RB need. One pro for the X-F center is that I could get away with an SI1 clarity.

bigger asscher center and smaller brilliant styles on the side
just 3 stones please

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really like the idea of combining step cuts and brilliant cuts in the same ring. On the other hand, combining them in the same STONE gets you the Lucida/Lucere cut, which is phenomenal...so who knows? I'd have to see an example of it first.

I'd go with 3 stones over 5 (5 just seems too busy)...maybe a Lucere from Good old Gold in the center with 2 side baguettes? For example, this stone in this setting.

EDIT: A Lucere would also look good with trillions, like this ring...

I would also do only 3 stones. I would do a Lucere with baguette sidestones if you definitely want a three stone brilliant/step cut combo. I like brilliant centers with step cut sides, but not step cut centers with brilliant sides. The side stones shouldn''t out sparkle the center stone, in my opinion.

If you want to combine a step cut center with brilliancy, I would do an asscher center stone with a diamond melee halo and shank. Just do a search for halos and you''ll see plenty.

That was my original plan... Asscher center with half moon (or another non-step cut depending on the band). But as was suggested, many here think it would take away from the Asscher. Though the halos and pave look nice with it. Perhaps if they were small enough. I have been trying to look for styles like that.

The Lucere was mentioned in another thread and I liked that idea... same with the Jubilee. I have not seen either IRL, so it's hard for me to decide if I would be happy with. They seem to be the best of both worlds. That stone looks really amazing.

My preference is for 3 stone, I just thought maybe the 5 stone was a way to work in step and brilliant even though I wouldn't want the diamonds (apart from pave in the band) across my whole finger.

I really wanted an Asscher as the step cut. I do like baguettes and traps and EC, though... it''s just Asschers are my favorite. So I thought maybe a clipped corner brilliant cut with Asscher sides. But, maybe with the Lucere I may find I like it as well as the Asscher.

I do like the halos and have been looking at settings with them. I especially like the rose gold/pink diamond halo. Leon Mege also had a halo I liked a lot... it was white and had an airline around the Asscher... it looked really crisp and beautiful. I''m just afraid I might get tired of a halo... I''m not completely sold on that idea yet.

Leon has a new 3 stone Asscher ring I LOVE!

Not loving half moons with an asscher. I''d do traps, bullets or baguettes before half moons, but that''s just me. Take a look at www.artofplatinum.com for inspiration. Lots of great examples there. Fun project, stick with what YOU want. HTH, good luck!!

Oh yeah... I've been looking there! He has a new 3 stone asscher that I LOVE!!! His work is absolutely amazing. There is also a 3 stone Ritani and a Tacori I like.

The half moon thing came in when I was contemplating a Simon G ring. It has three bands, half moon sides and whatever center stone.
