Hi,
Since i upgraded my engagement ring, i now have my original 0.60ct G VS2 diamond which is sitting around. So, i was thinking of using it in a pendant. I was thinking of using it as a centre stone with 2 of 0.30ct diamonds on each side in a simple setting. As i''m not willing to spend too much on this project (as i just got my diamond ring upgraded), will the 2 side stones be ok if they are H color SI1 clarity? For stones to be used in a pendant, does the same table and depth % apply? What do you all suggest? ANy advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don''t know about the table and depth, but I am sure an H SI1 would be perfectly fine, and you could probably drop to SI2 as long as the inclusions weren''t black and the cut was good. If it helps, Tiffany''s uses G color stones on most of their eternity bands, etc. because they claim that G''s look great side by side almost any of the colors they sell (D-I).

I think H SI1 is fine, and I''d want these two to be a good match. I don''t think they have to exactly match the center stone, but I''d try to stay close on the table size. For example, if the table on the center was 58, I might stay within 56-58 rather than going to 54. But many people might think we were crazy!

But you asked, so......

H/SI would be absolutely fine! The center stone in my wedding band is an H/SI and the others are I/VS2 and I can''t tell a difference in color or in clarity with a loupe or with my eyes. I''ve tried many times, and I just can''t tell.

The combination is definetly fine, but just to be sure u may want to place your 0.60 dia closely alongside yr prefered side diamonds ON A WHITE TRAY just to be sure how the overall effect will be before u set them.

You know, your old stone would look lovely alone, in a 3 prong setting on a fine chain...

Well then all she would see is the effect on a white tray, not the way the diamonds will be worn. sporesam is right that this will highlight the color difference between the two, but it might highlight it in a way that the stones will never see when worn making the comparison not too helpful IMO.
