HCA 2.3 - this is what concerns me.

I always thought that HCA score was more for rejecting stones than selecting them, basically by throwing out stones that don't perform as well as they could. (see: beyond4cs.com/2012/09/is-the-hca-score-always-reliable/) I would think you will want to avoid this 2.3 IF you can't view the actual diamond itself and are just going off of specs. I guess it is all relative to price though, whether you can return the diamond if you are unhappy, and your timeframe.

There are more experienced PSers around here who could give more input, but I thought I would share for what it's worth.

I have been looking at a zillion diamonds as well, found a few really nice ones. Hard to say with your own eyes if you can tell the difference between this and one with more consistent arrows, or a better ASET, but I have seen a bunch that are better. Actually, looking at the ASET and Idealscopes on some of the ones I bookmarked: those that scored between a 2 and 2.5 on the HCA did have a weaker ASET and/or Idealscope than those under 2, FWIW.

here are some ASET and Idealscopes for HCA 1.4 (first 2, AGS ideal), HCA 1.2 (2nd 2) and HCA 1.3 (last one, AGS Ideal).




These next 2 are of an HCA of 2.4 and 2.5. Definitely weaker than anything posted above.





I basically figured that anything over HCA of 2 would be eliminated, as I have seen several scopes that just didn't look great. Haven't seen anything above 2 that looked great, OTOH.
