Hi, everyone,
I am in the process of returning a setting and stone to an online vendor who is well respected on PS. I''m waiting for a refund pending vendor inspection of the package. I''ve been in contact with the vendor and have been told it will take a few days to process now that the package has arrived. I was within my return period and I followed all return instructions to the letter...but I''m still nervous that something could go wrong! I looked in the forum archives for posts about returns but didn''t find much. I know that PS posters recommend vendors because their liberal return policies make online shopping less scary, but have any of you ever taken advantage of them? If so, how was the experience? Did you encounter any problems? I''m not looking to trash any vendors here, but I think some discussion about how this process works IRL would be helpful to those of us who have never bought stones/settings online. Thanks!!!

hi sarap :)

re online vendors, the main one with which i''ve had experience is Blue Nile.

i''ve returned a number of stones - normally because i decided i wanted something larger, not because of quality issues. they''ve always been extremely helpful, no indication of irritation or disapproval on their part whatsoever, and they have, on 2 occasions, taken returns on things outside the one month period (not much, just a week or so).

one piece of advice tho - when you buy something through an online vendor, keep ALL the packaging till you''re positive you want to keep the item; if you decide you want to return it, it''s much simpler if you decide you need to send it back for whatever reason - you don''t need to start scrounging around for boxes, insulation, paperwork - and some of them have return labels which you can use. makes the whole process way easier.

Thanks, Whitby, I did (wisely) keep all packing materials. This return isn''t about quality, either; I just wanted a different look. Returning diamonds is a lot more stressful than returning curtains to Pottery Barn so I appreciate the reassurance!

My only experience was also with Blue Nile and the return went smoothly. I also kept all packing supplies and furthermore, didn''t wear the necklace for more than a few hours, so it still was prestine.
