Hi all,

Thanks for the help so far on my purchase. I have learned A LOT form this site.

I think have a diamond picked out (after passing on the original EGL graded 1 I had picked out). Does this look like a good price? Anything else that I might need to consider on this rock? I''m happy with the size, color, clarity, depth, table, and girdle...

Also, the sales person said that square Radiant cuts sometimes appear dark around the edges. Do I need to worry about this? I used the Length/Width from the AGA chart, and it is in the range for Radiant cuts.

Price: $5,402.00
Report: GIA
Shape: Radiant
Carat: 1.02
Color: G
Clarity: VS1
Depth: 68
Table: 66
Girdle: TN-TK
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good
Culet: None
Fluorescence: No
Measurements: 5.71-5.59X3.80
Length/Width: 1.02

Thanks for your help

I don''t know much about radiants, so I''ll leave this one for someone else, but about the dark edges, here is a link to another post with a square radiant, and I don''t notice any dark around the edges. link

This looks like it could be a good stone, but there''s really no way of telling until you see it. Do you have any photos of the stone? It would be easier to tell you something if we could see it. Also, just my personal preference, I''m not an expert, I would probably stay in the low to mid 60''s on the depth. The higher the depth, the smaller the stone will look.
Other people on this forum say not to go by numbers at all, but I''ll admit, I''m a numbers freak. But definitely post pictures if you have them.

I''m also a #''s person.....they look good to me, on a square shape I like a smaller table & some depth to it also, I think you get more fire this way.....it sounds like a beautiful stone, hope to see pictures. I''ve never heard of "dark edges," just the "bow tie" affect.

Oh, and meant to add as far as the stone looking small, I think you have to worry more about the thick girdle....I''d try to find out how much of the girdle falls in the thick range....because that takes up weight from the diamond......

Hmmm, numbers aside, I think you're overpaying a bit.
Case in point for only a bit more E VVS2. Is there room to haggle on your stone if you love it?
