By the numbers... Beautiful. 56, 40.8, 34.5, 80-50...As modern-Tolk as you can get on a GIA report.

Are you rolling with IF for sentimental reasons? Very nice, if so. Just checking.

Hey john thanks for the input and yes just wanting to stick with IF for owning a rare stone... anyway how about these numbers?

0.73 ct. Round Brilliant. Measurements are as followed: 5.71 - 5.76 x 3.55 mm. G, IF, Excellent Cut.
Depth: 61.9% TABLE: 60% Crown Angle: 35* Crown Height: 14.5% Pavillion Angle: 41*
Pavillion Depth: 43.5% Star Length: 55% Lower Half: 80% Girdle: STK Faceted Culet: None
Polish: Excellent Symmetry: Excellent Flourescence: None Comment: Minor details of polish are present.
Now to me that table % seems high but given the other factors what do yall think? I just thought in order to be considered as GIA excellent cut, the table had to fall within the 53-57.5% range? And lastly whats up with the comment "details of polish"? Is that ok? Also, when you have an excellent cut with excellent polish and excellent symmetry dont you get the hearts and arrows effect? Im new @ reviewing stones so any info, comments, opinions, or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

You're welcome. Julie gave good answers to the above questions in your other thread. I wish I was as concise as she is sometimes.

To elaborate: GIA EX can incorporate tables between 52-62% but is a bit liberal on the steep/deep side (angles). You're quoting an old AGS range (53-57.5%) which is outdated, but still a central range for the "near-Tolkowksy" diamond class that many enthusiasts love. The original diamond in this thread falls smack dab in the middle of that range.

"Minor details of polish not shown" means there were some insignificant things the grader saw but did not consider important enough to plot - at magnification mind you. It's why the diamond is "Internally Flawless" rather than Flawless.

The symmetry grade at the labs is all about facet shaping and alignment, crown to pavilion. It does not take internal "optical" symmetry into effect. You will need an ideal-scope, ASET or mag photo to know how well the crown facet reflections align. You would need a hearts image to know how well the pavilion facets align. Typically makes like the one you're considering have decent "H&A" (I prefer the term cut precision) as a by-product of the care taken in their craftsmanship, but the precise level cannot be determined without images.
