Hi everyone,

I am leaving for a beach holiday in 9 days

but I am really having trouble finding some good books to take with me. I would really love some recommendations.

Books that I have read and loved:

1. The Time Traveler''s Wife

2. Twilight Series (please don''t judge me

but I have been beyond obsessed with this series!)

3. The Girl in Times Square

4. I quite like Marian Keyes and just bought her newest book to take with me

I guess you could say that I like books that a little bit romantic and definitely something I can escape into. I am a lawyer and so really don''t want anything heavy going!

Thanks!

Have a fun vacation Smo!

Here are a few authors I really like. I tend to stick with the same authors (maybe I should branch out a bit).

Anita Shreve (Her book "Testimony" is hard to get through because of the subject matter, so I''d recommend her other novels.).
Elizabeth Berg
Jodi Picoult
Nicholas Sparks
Janet Evanovich (formulaic but funny)
Sue Grafton (a tad formulaic but really good)
Lisa Scottoline (her books aren''t romantic -- they''re crime thrillers but they''re good and not gory)
Emily Giffin
Sophie Kinsella
John Grisham (I know he just wrote a new book that isn''t like his other work -- I think it''s short stories but I''m not sure)
Jane Green

Here you are, some "light-hearted" books but with lots of adventure & surprises: "The Eight" & "The Fire" by Katherine Neville, Paolo Coelho''s books (all of them) and Dan Brown''s books (personally, I found "Angels & Demons" much more interesting than the "Da Vinci Code"). Oh, recently I discovered Kate Furnivall ("The Russian Concubine"), I truly loved it, although it''s a bit heavy.

I wish you have a great vacation

Ooh since you like Twilight already, and you're going to the beach, I would start the Southern Vampire Mysteries series by Charlaine Harris. Those are awesome (though not really like Twilight other than vampires) and great light (and sexy) reading.

'How to talk about books you haven't read' - short and witty but enjoyable
'The girl's guide to hunting and fishing' - sarcastic, witty
'The Dogs of Babel' - good but sad romantic
'The Collector of Worlds'

Hmm -- if you like MK, try Jane Green (some of her books are terrible, but I really loved "Bookends" and "Babyville") or Cara Lockwood. MK just came out with a new book, too.

"Memoirs of a Geisha" by Arthur Golden

"Wolf Hall" by Hillary Mantel

"Mila 18" by Leon Uris (or "Battle Cry")

and this one is AMAZING ... "The Inn at Lake Devine" by Elinor Lipman. Even my dad liked that one

Dear John by Nicholas Sparks.

Are these the Sookie Stackhouse series that HBO''s True Blood was based on. I looove True Blood!

I''m reading Roots right now and it is absolutely fantastic! I couldn''t put it down this weekend.
