Hello. I found a diamond at a price that seems undervalued compared to other similar ones out there. My plan is to buy a diamond with similar specs and put it in a three ring custom setting. I''ve done some research and can''t figure out why this one would be priced so low (compared to others).

I want to make sure I buy my girlfriend a nice ring, so please let me know:
1. If there is anything bad about this diamond that jumps out at you?
2. How much you think it should be priced at?

Hi Welcome to Pricescope. It looks a little deep. Do you have the pavilion and crown angles too? You can use this HCA tool to weed out not so good performing stones. You want to find stones that scoring between the 0-2 and then post info here so we can help you narrow it down from there. https://www.pricescope.com/cutadviser.asp

Critical question is, why does this stone have a VG cut grade? EX/EX finish, girdle within range...what''s up?

I have a copy of the GIA certificate, but it doesn''t mention anything about pavilion or crown angles. I may phone them up and ask about it, but if they don''t have it, should I just leave this diamond alone and try find something different?

Thank you very much for the help and welcome.

Without the crown and pavilion angles we can't really evaluate it properly, ask if the vendor can run a Sarin report on this stone, as that would give that information. If no crown and pavilion angles it could be a pre cut grade report. I would look for a diamond with less depth personally, look for diamonds around 60 - 62.4% depth.

A GIA report should always have crown and pavilion angles on it. They may be located on the profile diagram of the stone.

If it is a recent report from early 2006 onwards, pre cut grade GIA reports won't have that info.
