Okay I am going bald here!!!!! I need help with a Tacori ring setting, there are three we are interested in I will list below... The emerald one we actually were able to see in the store but either of the other two we have to order. The emerald cut one we were going to order and have a 1.5 to 2 carat princess peerless diamond put in the center but than were told there is no such thing as an ideal cut princess because princess cut lose 65 - 85% of their light because of the square style. So the original was round and found out just recently that round is the only diamond that has ideal cut. The way the light reflects, clearness, and face are very important and we definetly like the tacori style. In order to get either of the tacori settings in the two round below we have to special order them... and there is a 10% restocking fee (on a 30,000 ring thats a lot of money to throw away) if we dont like what we order. So please tell me your professional and personal opinions on the diamonds and the settings. We are going to look at a SI1 and F clarity 1.88 princess cut diamond on thursday. But we are REALLY liking the round settings but want some advice because we do like both but want the best BAM for our money. We never want to upgrade.
Thanks so much!
God Bless

Welcome to the site guys. I hate to say it but we need to narrow things down a bit. We can''t tell you anything about the stones without stats, and as for the settings, you need to narrow down what kind of cut you want before you choose as some emeralds would not look good when a round would fit a setting perfectly and vice-versus. People on the site will be more than willing to help, but need a little more info. There is an HandA princess cut floating around. I believe Goodoldgold sells them, but someone correct me if Im wrong. You can also get ideal cut princess cuts that have a great sparkle. Come up with a couple more detailed questions and ask away. All those settings look great, but lets focus on a stone first...

I guess most of our confusion comes from the jeweler yesterday telling us there is no such thing as a ideal cut princess diamond because princess cut lose 65 - 85% of the light... is this true?
Jerods and Reeds are the placest we have looked at loose diamonds
we checked pricescope and couldnt find the clarity size and cut we wanted

G or Better
VS1 or better
Ideal Cut
1.5 - 2.0 carats

Confused between round and princess shape

My suggestion would be to deal with www.goodoldgold.com. They are a prefered vendor for people on this site. They also deal with Tacori settings. If you called goodoldgold they would be able to find an incredible princess cut if that is what you wanted AND set it. They have great prices, and if you mention pricescope they will even give you a discount. A lot of people SWEAR by them. Your ring would also be cheaper than buying anything from a mall store and you would have a much better product. another company to look at would be whiteflash. Again a prefered PS vendor. Both of these have ALL the information you need in purchasing a stone and have great customer service... Here is a 2 carat princess

It is also true that and Ideal cut RB will sparkle more and return more light than a princess, but a well cut princess will still look stunning!!!!! You'll find most people on this site will sacrifice color and clarity for the best cut they can get.

Thank you for all your help. We will definetly check out those sites here is a diamond we found but whats anyones point of view on Peerless from Jerods.

I have bought from Jareds, and while their diamonds ARE very nice, they are ridicuously overpriced. I wouldn''t go with them.

If you are really set on buying from a B&M, don''t go with chain stores in general unless you''re buying something less substantial. For a diamond of the size you want, you really need to worry less about how much to save money and more about its cut and clarity. I know how tempting it is to just go with the cheap diamond, but you''ll regret it down the road.

I totally agree... cut and clarity are the MOST important to us but we are kind of limited because we want the Tacori ring. Any suggestions?? Jered is the cheapest we have found so far with the above clarity and cut. We looked at the two sites above and was MUCH more but it was for F and VVS1. Isnt a better cut more important to sacrfice for a G and VS1? Because G and VS1 are still Excellent correct??
Thank you sooo much for all your help

HERE is a 1.50ct G VS2 Ideal Cut Princess from Good Old Gold for $12,201.

It''s an Ideal cut and should be a fab diamond. In addition, you might consider dropping your clarity to SI1 to say even more money. You can call any Pricescope vendor such as Good Old Gold, Whiteflash, or Engagement Rings Direct and they will tell you honestly whether the stone is eyeclean. It is not necessary to go to VS1 to have a stone that has no inclusions that can be seen with the eye.

Those quotes from Jerods/Peerless sound WAY overpriced to me. You can do much, much better with a preferred PS vendor. We got my engagement ring from James Allen and were really, really pleased.

Call the PS vendors. You can still get your Tacori setting, AND have a better stone, AND save money. The amount you pay at mall store will be rediculous when getting a ring and stone of this size...

Thank you.

I strongly agree with the other posters suggesting goodoldgold to use as a vendor. Their prices are much better than your quotes and they carry tacori allowing you to get your stone and setting from the same place.

Just for fun, they have a variety of specialty cuts that are square, but are designed to have incredible light performance similar to a round. Chceck out the jubillee, princess of hearts, and square hearts and arrows if you want a square shape with great light performance: http://goodoldgold.com/diamondSearch.php
