I am looking for a 1ct diamond for my enagement ring, please let me know if this is a good deal.

GIA, $4600
Shape: Round Brilliant
Measurements: 6.41-6.46x3.98mm
Carat: 1.01ct
Colour: E
Clarity: SI2
Cut: EX
Polish: EX
Symmetry: VG
Fluorescence: None
Thin to slightly thick
Table: 52%
Depth: 61.8%

An inclusion (feather) can be seen around the edge with naked eye but the jeweler said it can be covered after set.

Please let me know if i should take this or not.

Many Thanks

The price seems very low -- red flag to me at least. The PriceScope search shows this type of diamond should be about $6-7K... Makes $4600 seem a bit too good to be true.

Who graded the stone?

What are the crown/pavillion angles?

Any chance we could get more info?

If you can post that, plus we need the crown and pavillion angles to help you with the cut quality. This diamond has the tiniest table I have ever heard of, maybe someone else might chime in on that, but I can't see that being so small as a great thing in a modern brilliant. The feather may or may not be a problem covering with prongs can be done provided the feather doesn't break the surface. The only way to be sure is to get an appraiser to check it for possible durability issues. Thoughts vary on this with feathers. Is having an E colour important to you? You could drop the colour and still have a very white looking diamond...

If you have seen this diamond and love it then that is the main thing, is it with a jeweller or online?

The table on my rb is 53%. Unless I''m comparing it to someone else''s, I really don''t notice that it''s smaller than it should be. What I do notice is that most of the fire comes from the crown and since my table is a bit smaller, there is more crown and perhaps more fire than if my table were larger. If I''m wrong, feel free to let me know.

I think the most important thing about a diamond, though, is that you see it and you love it. Everyone has different sweet spots on measurements.

Yes it is a preference thing and would probably lead to a more firey diamond, such a small table of 52% seems unusual in a modern cut diamond. But as previously said, if this poster has seen the diamond and likes it then that is what matters most. Also it is said that table size is less critical to beauty than other measurements and AGS will go down to 47%, it just seems unusual..

Thanks for all your prompt reply.

The crown and pavilion angles are 33.5 and 41.2. It is graded by GIA. The jeweller do wholesale so is relatively cheap compare to other.

What do you think?

The angles aren't in my preferred range, but according to the cut adviser they work well together so if you like this diamond and have seen it, the price is right, then thats what matters! You could do better it seems on paper, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder if this diamond is beautiful to you.
