Hi
I have a question about palladium rings!
I have a palladium engagement ring, I've had it for 3 years. I was under the impression that palladium is a hard metal so unlikely to bend too much.

I was at work the other day and noticed my ring didn't feel right so had a look, it was completely squashed and I struggled to get it off. I know it didn't happen over time, as it was fine a few days before.
I hadn't done anything i would have thought would cause this (like slamming my hand in the door) and my wedding ring ( which is platinum) is fine . Very confused.

Have we been miss sold to.
I've included a photo of both of my rings.

Hi, your ring was made with a soft metal and has bent.
It isnt the manufacturers fault if it wore perfectly for 3 years and then suddenly bent.

More than likely this is a result of it catching on something ( you may not have thought twice or noticed)
There is no metal that holds its shape great for 3 years and then "breaks" after 3 years. They should be able to get it straightened at a jeweler.
Ive seen rings bend like that with silver before ( never owner pallidium ). If you want to get a reset you can choose a 14kt gold setting which will be less likely to bend - but given a good enough pull at the right angle - almost any ring would bend as they are just a few mm of metal .

I'm sorry to hear this happened to you! I will say I have a Scott Kay palladium ring with pavé and I've knocked the stone loose three times in twice as many years. Twice was clear out of the setting. I am kind of clumsy and have banged my ole pear around a ton, but (knock on wood) have only had the stone loosen slightly once. That one is set in platinum. I love the look of palladium and got this ring for an absolute steal, but I was shocked how soft it is, too. The other issue is finding someone to work on it. Even in my big city the options are limited. That said, at least they've been able to fix it each time and my first crack was pretty horrific. Wish you lots of luck!

Wringing out a washcloth could do that without you thinking you did anything like catch it on something or smashing it between something. Hopefully your jeweler could round it out.

I had a palladium spacer band that warped badly, very similar to your photo. Of course it was very thin which increases the chance for bending, but at the same time my gold and platinum spacers of the same width were just fine. So this may be a thing with palladium. Can the jeweler (where you bought the ring) adjust it at all?

Gosh that's amazing! Sorry that this has happened. I once wore a platinum ring for a few years and noticed that it slowly became oval shaped around my finger. This has happened with some thinner gold rings too over time.

Forgot to add that I have a palladium ring which has not warped over time. I also have 2 other platinum rings which have not warped. I think these differences in warping may have to do with the alloys used, or how the metal is annealed during fabrication in addition to the inherent characteristics of the metals in themselves.

My tension setting is made of 500 fine Palladium. no problem after 2.5 yrs.
