Hi all,

I went and looked at radiants and I think I found my stone. I need to know what you think. Here are the specs.

Original Radiant RCDC
1.00 E Si1
Length to width - 1.14
Table % 61
Visible surface area- 32mm
Adjusted Depth- 57.4%
Adjusted Crown Height- 10.5%
Adjusted Pavilion Depth- 43.5%
Polish-Good
Symmetry Good
Fluorescence None
Girdle- Extremely thin- very thick
Price- $5800

Comments- additional extra facets are not shown. Clouds are not shown.

This diamond more than any other radiants (rcdc) that I have seen. It truly is a beauty. I am worried about the girdle though. Will that make it more prone to breaking? What about the extra facet? Do you think the price is right or could I get a couple hundred knocked off? I really hope to hear from you guys!Thank you! :)

We can't tell anything by numbers as you know, so if you love the diamond then that is the main thing as you have seen it in person. As to your questions -

Additonal facet - not an issue usually nor are clouds not shown.

Girdle - get an independant appraiser to check it out, no way of knowing here if it is an issue or not. It could be a tiny part of the girdle which is ex thin in the microns in a non vulnerable area or vice versa. Check with the vendor if you think he will give you a skilled opinion, or get an appraiser to check it out. I don't know if this is a feature of ORC's with the ex thin part of the girdle, it may be fine, but make sure whatever you buy you have insurance which covers you against damage anyway. Any diamond can chip or break - rare but it happens.

Pricing - you can use the search tool above to get an idea of similar, brick and mortar jewellers are usually higher priced. Negotiating, no harm in trying!

Do you have any pictures of the stone by chance? This will help more than anything. I used to have a stone with similar specs to this one and it was very pretty. The depth is a tiny bit shallow, but with radiants you can''t tell much by the numbers. I wouldn''t worry too much about the extra facet or the girdle. Ditto L''s suggestion about going to an appraiser to get a better idea of durability issues. I would also recommend getting insurance for your ring no matter what you decide on.
