I doubt that Tacori would do that since it was bought at Overstock. You are going to lose your price value if you attempt to have that head remade. I''d encourage you to buy the size diamond that the current head requires. Every head has a range of size that it will take. Is 7mm the smallest size recommended for that ring?

my guess is it's a discontinued ring so tracking down the model # might be hard. your best bet would be to find a local tacori dealing and see if they will help you, although i'm not sure how receptive they will be since you didn't buy from them. I wouldn't mention that you got it on overstock either. You might also consider getting your stone form GOG, a tacori dealer and see if they'd be willing to help and if you buy the stone from them they at least have a little to gain.

Even if you get tacori to change the head, it's probably won't be cheap. leads me to my tag being "a deal is only a deal if you get exactly what your want." the added expense to make the changes b/c you really need a 6mm head could very well negate any type of *deal* you got

good luck though, i hope you can get it all worked out to your satifaction.

I have the same setting. I think a 6mm would look too small given the mass of the setting. You can have a good tech set various sized diamonds in the empty prongs to see what looks good and see how small you can go technically.

My prongs measure for 7.5mm, but I think they send them larger for various reasons. I was told by a tech that a 1.25 would fit with no problem, but had a sales person tell me they may have to set the diamond lower in the prongs and chop the tops off for a 1.21ct (ouch). I think there is some wiggle room without butchering, but you'll be well over the 1ct size, I'm pretty sure.

Really, you're literally saving $1500 with that deal, so don't be afraid to put the money in the stone size. It is a beautiful setting, even the people that work at the local jewelry stores stop in their tracks and beg to see it. I wouldn't believe the responses if you told me.

Hi Grant!

Welcome to PS...

First of all, a ring you purchased on overstock is probably a discontinued ring, so locating the item number will become almost impossible. Your best course of action would be to directly contact a Tacori dealer, and attempt to somehow how them locate the number.

As far as changing the prong head, I have a good friend who too wanted to do this. Unfortunately she was told by several jewellers that a "stock" ring, such as what she has, are nearly impossible to alter due to the fact that the piece in and of itself was casted that way and created to accomidate that prong head.

You got a nice deal on the setting, and considering that, I would work with what I have. For whatever reason, you opted not to customize a piece and going back now and trying to customize a stock piece can become very complicated, costly and your overall satisfication may suffer.

I wish you happiness as you move forward in the process, and hope that the end piece is truly a beautiful work of art!

Try 10931, if you google "tacori 10931" you''ll get a couple hits with a picture of that ring.

I was surprised to see the Tacori rings at Overstock but I wonder what kind of warranty you get when you buy from Overstock, does Tacori still service them?

They must be discontinued items if they are at Overstock. I would contact Tacori directly and find out from them if they will do any work on these rings.
