Please help with sizing!

I have selected a 0.43 ct diamond from BlueNile. I have a size 9 finger and was wondering if it is going to look way too small? The setting I picked has a width of 2.4 mm. Does anyone have a picture wearing a 1/2 ct diamond with this size finger? Thanks so much!

PS This is my first post and I have been reading and learning a lot here, such great information!

Hi Krista and welcome to you!!

If we could keep it to just one thread please that would be great, otherwise it gets confusing with multiple threads asking the same thing, don't worry - it happens to lots of newbies!

As to your question, I think that size will be fine, I also have large hands and wear a .50ct at times and I love it! There are some pics somewhere with under a carat diamonds, normally it gives the ring size too, I will see if I can dig it up for you.

Also if you would like advice on the cut and proportions of the diamond ( assuming its a round stone) you have selected, go ahead and post the info here which will be on the grading report -

depth %
table%
crown and pavilion angles
girdle thickness
polish and symmetry grades
star and lower girdle facet percentages
diameter in MM

Then we can tell you if the diamond is well cut or not. It is important to get a well cut diamond in order to have a good spread for the weight ( this refers to how large the diamond looks), also a well cut diamond will look large for the weight due to increased brightness and performance, and edge to edge brilliance. You want the light hitting the very edges of the stone in order to maximize the size of the diamond visually. A poor cut will look dull and drab by comparison. see these photos as an example in this tutorial. See how the larger, lesser cut stone actually looks smaller than the well cut diamond which actually weighs less?
