Need opinions on this 4.0 E beauty...I think? I have a few questions... why does it get a Very Good rather than Excellent. HCA Score is .7. All of the measurements seem perfect with the possible exception of lower half?? Does this matter? Ive been hanging out here so muchand have learned so much...I ''m afraid I''m getting too hung up on the minute details that may or may not affect performance.

PLEASE HELP! Thanks in advance!

Here are the stats:

4.0
E color
SI1
Cut Very Good
Depth 60.9%
Crown Angle 35
Pav Angle 40.6
Star length 50%
Lower Half 85%
Girdle Thin-Med Faceted
Culet None
Polish Excellent
Symmetry Excellent
Flourescence None

Is this GIA certified?

Yes- that''s why I''m wondering about the Very Good Cut...

What shape is this? Can you provide the table information?

GIA only gives star length and lower half information for rounds...

Based on the numbers, I am guessing the table is on the smaller side, around 55% or so?

Also, the stone is exactly 4.0cts? I personally would not buy at 4cts on the dot, and within the trade it's actually discounted based on the fact that it's less efficient cut, just to reach the "magic carat" mark. Smarter to buy something just a hair under, but cut for performance if you want a round cut that does well on the PS tests... It will look the same visually, but may save you money.

Sorry..yes it is round

OOPS! Can''t believe I forgot that part... Round with 56 Table!
Thanks

Actually it is 4.02 which sounds like it might be trying to reach that magic carat mark. Also I forgot to mention Round with 56 table.

Thanks!

I think (and experts correct me if I''m wrong) but GIA dings the cut grade for brillianteering? I have seen some reports in which it says in the comments section "Cut grade affected by brillianteering'' which is polishing of the star facets or something like that.

Do a search on gia and brillianteering, should show something up.

So this may be why your stone which has good angles etc only got a VG not Ex.

Would it state "brillianteering" on the report? I did not see any comments to that effect...

Nicrez, I totally understand what you''re saying here, and have seen such stones. However, I really don''t see anything about this particular stone that points to it.

Oh, of course. If it doesn''t say it, then that''s not the reason.
