I've narrowed my search down to 2 diamonds and would like to get the valued opinion of PS members prior to making a final decision. One diamond is obviously much larger, while the other has better proportions/optical symmetry and obviously clarity. Assuming the larger SI1 is eye clean and cost only slightly more, which would you pick and why?

Diamond #1: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...f-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-3541508
2.22ct, F, SI1
Depth: 61.6
Table: 55
Crown: 33.0 (too shallow?)
Pavilion: 40.8
HCA: 0.7

Diamond #2: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...-color-vvs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-3593515
1.84ct, F, VVS2
Depth: 61.4
Table: 55
Crown: 35
Pavillion: 40.8
HCA: 1.5

Does it have to be one of these two only?

#1 I am less concerned with the crown angle of 33 on the first diamond and more so with the feather, knot and cavity inclusions. Those are some of my least favorite inclusion types because they reach the surface and for that reason I would rule out the diamond.

#2 Beautiful diamond, but to me that is an overkill on the clarity side. I would probably look for a slightly larger stone, maybe even expand my search to G color and see what $20k will buy me there. Otherwise, from the 2, I would pick this one.

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to note that we have tried lower colors and are sticking with F or higher. Fluorescence is ok as well.

#2 1.84ct is much better in my opinion

Of these two, #2 for me. I wonder whether the lighter parts under the table are due to photography and backlighting rather than leakage.

To elaborate a bit, I was going to say #2 because of the high clarity, better optimal symmetry, and better proportions.
But the 2.22c is just in a different league in regards to size and spread, in comparison with the 1.84c.
Knot and cavity are not something I want to see in a SI1 stone, but they are listed after crystal and feather.
Stone's light return is strong and it should be eye-clean from a reasonable viewing distance.

Having that said, the 1.84c's appearance is just gorgeous.

If you tell us your budget and we can take another look, if you like.

Thank you for the additional color, it is very helpful to understand your rationale. You are not making this decision any easier!

Thanks, the first diamond you posted really makes me feel like my 1.84 is a great deal. It looks like this VS2 is the same price as my VVS2 and it is smaller, so it wouldn't really make sense to switch. The Blue Nile diamond appears to have sold.
