Please Help with antique cushion choice!

Hi Everyone,

So I recently received a 2.11 ct. AVC from Good Old Gold. I love the cut and brilliance, but I am starting to second guess the color. I do like warmer stones, but this one shows quite a bit of yellow. I have been in contact with Adam at Old World Diamonds, and have found a similar stone and I can't decide between them! Please Help!!

The cut of the AVC is great, but I agree about the color. I personally would go with the other one, plus it's bigger

Thanks for the comment!. I worry that since the OWD stone is a K but has an EGL cert, it is really like an M/N and wont be that much different in color than the O (with the AGS cert). Aslo, I question whether I will lose the brilliance that the AVC diamond has if the cut on the other stone isn't as great for light performance?

To me I truly perfer antique cut stones and would not accept an AVC (though I adore Jon at GOG). That is just my personal taste. I have seen them in person and I'm extremely underwhelmed where as with antique cushions I'm totally in love. Does your intended have a preference? If so I would go with what she loves.

I personally would choose the antique cushion. What does Adam say about the color? I bought my cushion from him (uncerted) and he said it was an N/O/P. I took it to several GIA appraiser and they confirmed it was N/O so he knows his stuff. Just ask if he thinks the K is a soft grading or not. My N/O doesn't look yellow at all as the AVC does. It is more of an ivory color- but definitely NOT yellow.

Justginger also has an antique cushion from Adam that was uncerted but he called O/P and it is also ivory but not yellow. If you google her or search her through the PS search tool you can see pictures of her diamond as well for color comparision.

And just a quick FYI since you are posting in the antique forum the majority of people here will probably say the OWD diamond. However if you hit report concern and ask the MOD to move this to RockyTalk you will get more responses esepcially from ppl who own AVC/AVR so you will get more answers. To me an AVC is not an antique cushion but a branded diamond cut to look like an older cut. As stated I don't care for them at all. They lack the romance and old world feel of a true antique cushion. But with that said many many people LOVE and COVET them.

Oh and MEG_ has an antique cushion that I'm pretty sure is the OWD's twin in color and size if I remember correctly. If you move this to RT she will see it.
