i have a diamond im very interested in the only catch is that im getting a tacori setting which has "g" color diamonds in the mount yet i have a very good diamond i would like to buy if the color wont clash. the egl cert says the color is an "I" so i asked the owner and they said that my jeweler would probably lean more towards a "J" is this noticeable with the naked eye? do yall think the diamond from the setting will clash with this one? oh the diamond im talking about is 1.5ct and the other diamond will be quite smaller approx .15ct

oh will the setting since it will be 18k white gold even things out a little?

Are you saying that there are .15 stones on either side of the center stone? An ideal cut J stone would probably be okay, but less well cut stones may show more color. The jeweler with the stone should be able to advise you since they have seen the stone.

I am not sure what you mean by "even things out a little", but white gold is very white, so if anything, it will contrast with the J stone if the stone is not well cut.

Out of interest, I have read that white gold has a warm tint to the metal which lends itself particularly well to near colourless diamonds.

Lorelei, with rhodium plating, white gold is VERY white. It only has a warm tint if the rhodium is worn off.

Actually I have read a few times that WG has a slight warm tint to it, also as it is made from an originally yellow metal - but it was a long time ago. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear, I was meaning it wasn't something obvious but very subtle. It isn't something that was readily discernible, but that the tint was negligible but present, and it can also depend on the viewer's eyes I guess. Apparently the whiteness of the gold can depend too on the manufacturing process used, so I suppose it can depend on many things. I guess one of the experts can clarify?

Garry mentions in this thread that WG isn't as white as plat, just so I know I am not going mad!

If you can put everything together before purchasing and it looks fine, then there’s your answer.
Good Luck

I have an "I" colored diamond in my Tacori. It looks fine. I can tell no difference.
