PLEASE HELP! WHAT IS "EDGL"??? MY ENGAGEMENT RING IS CERTIFIED BY EDGL. I'M SORRY IF THIS IS A SILLY QUESTION BUT IS THAT THE SAME AS EGL? WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO? IS EDGL LEGIT? IS EGL GOOD? IS EDGL GOOD? IF YOU COULD PLEASE PUT MY MIND AT EASE AND ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS AS WELL AS PROVIDE ANY OTHER HELPFUL INFORMATION, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! I THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ALL OF YOUR GREAT RESPONSES! :)

I DON''T KNOW ... BUT I DO KNOW THAT YOU SHOULD CALM DOWN IF YOU WANT TO GET SERIOUS ADVICE. AND MAYBE CHILL OUT ON THE CAPS LOCK.

LOL! That''s exactly what my first reaction was Deco!

Asscher, I can see you are excited.

I''ve never heard of EDGL. Did you do a google search? Or talk to the vendor that sold you the stone?

DECODELIGHTED, with all due respect, I am calm and even if I was not, would still receive "serious" advice because the people here on Pricescope are great, helpful, intelligent, and CLASSY! ;)
As for the caps lock, I don''t see any rules on here against font type.
Besides, haven''t you ever heard of the saying "If you don''t have anything nice to say, Don''t say anything at all." ;)

I did a google search and this is what EDGL says on their home page,"E.D.G.L. is an independent Gemological Laboratory, which specializes in the
grading and analyzing of diamonds that have undergone Enhancing Treatments."

Here is the link: http://www.egc-labs.com/EDGL/AboutEDGL.aspx

Ps. For people that are active on internet forums, all caps is meant to signify yelling. Its just a little hard to read as well and may be why Deco assumed that you were excited. Don''t worry, I would be too.

Oh, forgot to mention that EDGL stands for: Enhanced Diamond Gemological Laboratory

Nope that expression is a totally new one to me! I HAVE heard that it''s kind to tell people when they have spinach on their teeth, or their dress is tucked up into their underwear. When it comes to the web ... ALL CAPS is a

. That, m''dear is a "helpful hint". Albeit one you did not ask for directly.

EmeraldLover1- Hi! Thank you so, so much!!! I really appreciate it! :-D

Deco - LOL!!!! I''ll just let your post speak for itself ;)

Asscher, you WILL get less helpful advice here if you write in all caps because many people (myself included) find it very hard to read. Thus, many people are less likely to respond to a post that is hard to read. That is all Deco meant. It is good 'net etiquette to not write everything in caps FYI.

As for EDGL it is NOT the same as EGL. I haven't really heard of EDGL, but many places won't grade enhanced stones, so take that with a grain of salt...I think regular EGL will grade stones with enhancements, so you can send it there if you want. But personally I would just find an INDEPENDENT appraiser in your area (i.e., does not work at a jewelry store or sell stones) and make sure you got what you paid for that way.

Do you mind if I ask where you got the stone? I know you were looking on 47th st. Did you know you were getting an enhanced stone?

I wonder how many of those they would sell if they used a more accurate term like Doctored

Ask (or read the fine print on your cert), and see if it''s been "clarity enhanced". If it is, take it back.

Stick with GIA, AGS, or in a pinch EGL USA (not EGL Israel).

I sense from your past posts that you''re interested in size. Nothing wrong with that. Get with Whiteflash, tell them your budget and have them find you the biggest J, eyeclean SI2 stone in your price range, with a decent cut. They''ll be honest and find you some sweet diamonds to consider.

You''ll end up with a much nicer diamond than any "enhanced" stone.

HERE is a nice 4 star 1.51 carat Princess from Whiteflash that would be worth having a look at for $4495.
