Measurements:

Round Brilliant Shape
6.95 - 6.99 X 4.15 mm
Weight: 1.22 Ct
Depth %: 59.5 %
Table: 58%
Girdle thickness: Slim/Med /fac
culet: Very Small
Polish : Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Clarity: VS1
Color: G

GIA Cert

Pavilion Depth % was measured at 44.1
Crown Angle is 34.6
This Pavilion Depth and Crown Angle were not on the original GIA cert so I had it remeasured by a appraiser for the crown and pavilion information. This ring has been mounted and he did the measurements in the mount.

Given that this stone has Excellent polish and Excellent symmetry, is it even possible to have a 44.1 Pavilion Depth % with the numbers I''ve given.

When put into the cut adviser on this site, it scored a 5.2, when I put 43.0 as the pavilion depth % instead it is a 1.3 -excellent.

Do you think with these numbers the pavilion % can be off and be a 43 instead? I''m surprised the score could be 5.3 given that it is an EXCELLENT cut and EXCELLENT symmetry.

Isn''t there a manual way to calculate the Pavilion Depth % with the rest of the info given?

I''m confused, cut experts please help.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression that you can''t get an accurate measurment when the stone is mounted?

Some GIA excellents can score highly on the HCA though.

take the stone out and do a sarin scan.

Hmm, i entered the info into DiamCalc, and it is possible to be 44.1% if the girdle thickness is dangerously thin. Either way the stone will leak inside the table.
Does your appriaser have an ideal-scope or ASET scope (if not............. find someone from this century?)
If not get one yourself and have a look.

Ex Ex means diddly squat
