Please help to tell me if I'm making a mistake buying this

Hello,

Thank you for looking at my posting thread. I am new to diamonds and making the plunge to try to buy my gf something beautiful.

I have ordered the below diamond (from enchanted diamonds, but purchased through pricescope) and will have 30 days from when I receive it to either keep it or return it.

My concern is the crown angle is 33.5, and I understand that will diminish Fire, although according to the HCA calculator it scored a 1.2 and should have excellent fire. This is a HUGE amount of money for me and I just want to make sure I'm not getting a dead stone... Also, I realize the table is large, but again the HCA rated the Spread as excellent.

I think it looks like a nice stone if the images are accurate. Those are computer images and not actual idealscope images, but the stone looks good. I don't understand what you mean by buying through PS, though??? Do you mean you found it on the PS search and then called Enchanted Diamonds to buy it?

Table and spread are two different things. The table is the flat part right in the middle of the top of the stone and is surrounded by the crown. The spread refers to the diameter of the stone. This stone has a wider diameter due to the depth being 59.6.

Thank you for your reply. I did mean that I found the stone through pricescope and then called enchanted to buy. I appreciate your clarification on table and spread. Is it your opinion that 59 tables are usually too big to maximize Fire, and do you think that in conjunction with the 33.5 crown angle would be a negative for this stone?

It is a 60/60 type stone and should be more bright than firey. But there is nothing really wrong with that as you are going to be in lighting that favors brightness over fire most of the time, probably. Some prefer a Towlkowsky proportioned ideal cut, but there is nothing wrong with the diamond you chose if you think it is beautiful when you see it. It will have a better spread/diameter because of it's proportions and some people like them for that reason.
