Hi - I''ve read pricescope forums and information quite a bit and its been very helpful. I still could use some experienced help deciding between two stones that both seem excellent to me. Carat price is approximately the same around $8200/carat. I think the price is decent but I''ll take input on that too! My confusion is around star length and lower half % on stone 1, and the 58% table on stone 2. I am probably over thinking but any help is much appreciated.

Both stones are H color , VS2, GIA excellent cut, polish and symmetry

Stone 1: 1.50 carat
7.36 X 7.42 X 4.54
Table: 55%
Depth: 61.4%
Crown Ang: 34.5
Crown Height: 15.5
Pavilion Ang: 41
Pav depth: 43
Star length: 50 - i don''t understand star and lower half lengths still...
lower half: 75
girdle - thin to thick
fluorescence: faint
HCA score: 1.8

Stone 2: 1.60
7.57 X 7.61 X 4.58
Table: 58% -- borderline too big?
Depth: 60.3%
Crown Ang: 35.0
Crown Height: 14.5
Pavilion Ang: 40.6
Pav depth: 42.5
Star length: 55
lower half: 75
girdle - thin to medium
fluorescence: none
HCA score = .9

I''ll add one other option...the cut on this stone is very good, polish/symmetry both ex.

Stone 3: 1.55
7.55 X 7.60 X 4.47
Table: 58%
Depth: 59%
Crown Ang: 32.0
Crown Height: 13
Pavilion Ang: 40.8
Pav depth: 43
Star length: 55
lower half: 80
girdle - thin to medium
fluorescence: none
HCA score = 1.1

Star of 50 is fine, many of the diamonds we see here are between 50 - 60. Also it isn't a determining factor for cut quality. Lower halves seem to be within good range. I would ask for Idealscope images for these diamonds. A table of 58 is ok, many here prefer 54 - 57, but 58% can be no problem. I like the first and second ones best.

See this thread for more on lower halves. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/sorry-stupid-question-what-is-lgf.61176/

What are the polish and symmetry grades for these diamonds?

And on the next OP post, so is the third one.

Thanks! I would definitely see if you can get Idealscope images then we can go from there.

Whoops - sorry. The third one is VG cut, EX/EX.

At any rate, your conclusion is hardly likely to change.

Thanks! And you are right, I still prefer the first two!

If getting an idealscope of each stone is not a possibility any other suggestions on picking? Should I trade off carat size to go up to a G color? (I know this last question is a personal preference...). I personally couldn''t see the difference side by side between a G and H.

The first two look promising the first in particular, which vendor are they with? If you have compared reliably graded, similar size, cut and shape diamonds, no need to go to G if an H looks fine.

stone 1 was found through usacerted.
stone 2 is from a jewler in NYC
stone 3 --- which is all but eliminated is also from a jewler in NYC

I think you''ve answered yourself... and bear in mind that seeing that difference face-up and in a setting is going to be much more difficult. Don''t see too many people going around with their stone set sideways in white plastic.

Plus, consider that cut can make a visual difference of several colour grades, depending on lighting conditions (and a thousand other caveats). I''d spend on cut before anything else, once some "basics" are OK.

(For me - and we re-enter the realm of personal preference - the basics for a colourless diamond are: eye-clean stone - check; size 90pts+ - check; H+ colour - check).

I don''t know if Martin from USACerted offers IS images, but he might do, worth asking him.
