Hi all,
I've been looking around on the forums for a while as I've been searching for a diamond for my fiancé. I've found it extremely valuable, particularly seeing photos of other peoples' diamonds/settings. Thank you all for your helpful contributions!
I've found a diamond that, on paper at least, I love. Could you please let me know what you think? We live in Australia, so cannot see the diamond in person without ordering it.
As background, we've been trying to choose between a modern cushion brilliant, like that below, or a chunkier old mine cushion cut, such as the AVC cut from GOG. At this stage, we've decided to go with the former, but we could be convinced to go with the latter.
So, as for the diamond, you can read about it here:
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/E-VVS1-Ideal-Cut-Cushion-Diamond-1352843.asp
The specs are as follows:
Shape: Cushion
Carat weight: 1.14
Cut: Excellent
Color: E
Clarity: VVS1
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 68.1%
Table: 66.0%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Slightly thick to very thick
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 6.16*6.08*4.14
Ratio: 1.01
We have had James Allen provide ASET images of the diamond. The first is taken with the AGS system and the second is taken with a system made by James Allen. My primary concern is the extent of green, particularly in the first image. Should I expect it to be a problem in real life, or is this characteristic of a cushion cut? The green appears to be confined to the four edges of the diamond, particularly in the second image. James Allen advises that this diamond is entirely eye clean, which you would expect with the grading. I've also attached the GIA grading certificate for info.
The price quoted is around $10,000. This is my budget so I want to make sure I get the best diamond I can. Given I live in Australia, I want to make sure I am as certain as I can be without actually seeing the diamond. I can return it within 60 days, but I'd rather avoid the fuss if it is obviously a dud. Here are some photos:

We're planning on having it set by James Allen in their platinum pave setting:

Thanks a lot in advance!
