Dear PriceScope Community,

I am trying to create a wonderful engagement ring. Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, I need to have it before Xmas.

My budget is 50-65k Eur. I have tried educating myself on this forum and elsewhere, but I feel that I would greatly benefit from the help of more experienced users.

I am very open minded about the final result. My only red line is that the stone cannot be a marquise cut.
I was initially drawn to a pear shaped stone mounted on a setting of this nature
http://www.bluenile.com/build-your-own-ring/floating-diamond-engagement-ring-setting-platinum_12959

With regard to the stone itself, two have caught my eye thus far:

GIA 7231674328 (http://pics.bluenile.com/certs/7231674328.pdf?params=Y291bnRyeT1BVVQmcHJvZHVjdD1CTlVLJnBob25lPTAwODAwKzI1ODMrNjQ1MyZsaW5rPWh0dHAlM0ElMkYlMkZ3d3cuYmx1ZW5pbGUuY29tJTJGYXQlMkZfTEQwNzcyNDYwNSZjdXJyZW5jeT1FVVImbGFiPWdpYSZza3U9TEQwNzcyNDYwNSY%3D)
and
GIA 6211133990 (https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/pear-shaped/2.72-carat-d-color-if-clarity-sku-917012)

However, I have many questions. Is focusing on IF and FL, D coloured stones "overkill"?
Should I be looking into something completely different in light of my fairly large budged?

All views and advice greatly appreciated.

Are you the wearer or the giver? If the giver, what specifically does your intended dream of fir an engagement ring? If a pear, great. But, if you like it and she doesn't, not as great for a surprise. You have a spectacular budget. Your timeline might be a little optimistic. Any chance you can propose with a 5, 7, or 10 stone band, then do the ring shipping together?

Thanks for your reply.

I am the giver.

The wearer wishes to be surprised...so I am getting ZERO input from her, I am afraid. Save for the marquise red line.

I have focused on pear shaped because I like the look of them and I think that they would suit her. However, as I said I am open to suggestions.

D/F IF is too narrow of specs to limit yourself to...especially when under the timeline of needing it by Christmas which I would
think might be impossible if you are not in the US (but not sure).

You cant buy fancy cut stones by the numbers so the Bluenile stone would be a no-go. The James Allen stone looks pretty decent
but you should open your specs to maybe D/E/F and down to VS1/VS2 to see what you can find. Are you looking for big or do you
just want to stay around 2.75-3 carats?

A pretty cushion

A nice round

5 carat emerald cut (k color though)

Asscher - probably a nicer one out there but this is from a quick search

Do you want to stick with pears?
