Hi, this is the first time posting, but I've been lurking here for a while.
I'd like to thank everyone for providing me with such valuable information about diamonds and settings.
Before I came across PS, I only knew about 4Cs (and because of that I thought I was well-educated!).
Now that I'm more knowledgeable than before, and hope to get the best diamond for my future fiance.

I pretty much decided on http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2677741.htm and legato sleek setting. But, in the morning today, I discovered that someone else had reserved the diamond...

Now that I'm back to square one, I was thinking that I would enlist for your help this time around. Could anyone help me with finding a great Princess ~1 ct at decend price? Thanks in advance!!

Thank you Amys Bling & JulieN!

Whiteflash Diamonds from Amys Bling:
IS image of the 1.028ct I VS1 looks really dark compared to all the IS images that I've seen. Is this problem with photographing or is it indicative of diamond?
I like 0.996ct H VS1! Would anyone advise against it?

Blue Nile Diamonds from JulieN:
I was searching blue nile earlier but I thought they were more expensive, because I limited search to signiture ideal cut only. I didn't know that their very good cuts would be this good! I would definitely have to consider blue niles now! ASET looks beautiful but can I compare photo and computer generated ASET directly?

BTW, how did I do with my original choice? If I had gotten the H SI1, would it have been a good choice?

If you want to look for AGS stones on Blue Nile, you should go through the PS search, because you can uncheck the GIA and EGL boxes.

The computer ASET, I think is just good for a check to make sure it's pretty symmetric and nothing is really wrong. The AGS 0 cut grade will get you 97% of the way there. That being said, I did think the computer-generated ASET of the one I linked was slightly better than the rest, haha. You'll notice that the WF ASET vs the computer one is not very similar. But, yes, the original H SI1 would have been a good choice.

Thanks for posting, jaebond. I'm a bit uneasy about the diamond on GOG because of its SI2 clarity and its depth %.
77.4% seems a bit on the high side (with table% = 66%). Would this still be ok?

Like I said, I have no idea if it is eye clean or not, you would probably have to ask GOG. As for the depth, it does face up closer to a 1.0 ct. You will have to ask someone else if you have more questions; I'm still learning.

I was going to look further into diamond by Blue Nile. I asked for an IS image, but this came back:

"While we do not provide ASET or Ideal Scope images of our non-Blue Nile Signature diamonds, we do provide GIA and AGS reports which include thorough cut grading analysis."

I wanted to have as much information as possible especially since this is not one of their "Signiture Ideals" :((

Thank you, farmer gal!

I like this diamond!
I like it so much, I am getting my e-ring with this diamond. =)
(I should say "her" e-ring; I think I'm getting emotionally attached to the ring after spending so much time on it LOL)

My diamond search is over; I can finally get decent hours of sleep!

Or so I thought, but I had to spend few more nights browsing through settings...

Deciding on setting proved to be more difficult that I thought (since they all looked the same at first  ), but I decided to get Serenity 1520 by Vatche. Initially I wanted to get Royal X-prong, but it was out of my budget... You read about increasing price of precious metals all the time, but it doesn't really hit you until you are making a big purchase :knockout: especially after reading some old threads about ring prices...

Now my search is over; just wanted to thank everyone on PS for education and guidance!
