Hello All. First, let me say thank you to Pricescope and to all of you for your invaluable information. This is my first diamond purchase and prior to finding this site, I barely even new the 4Cs.

I am looking to purchase a 2 ct. solitare engagement ring. I am interested in a well rounded stone and my future wife will be most focused on the brilliance and sparkle.

My budget is $30K and I want VS2 or better and H color or better, with the best cut I can get.

Below are 3 diamonds I found. I would very much appreciate any feedback, advice or suggestions. I would also be most grateful for any other suggested diamonds.

Thanks so Much

Hi! c/ the info currently available, I like the WF one the best. It has a really nice IS. The second JA is bordering on out of round. Would need an IS on the first JA one to really tell (it is a FIC with that crown angle). The WF one gets my vote.

Thritto!

Wow, that WF G VS1 - is gorgeous! That would be my pick, too!

The WF stone is gorgeous! I did come across this on the GOG website -- it''s a lower color than you are looking for but is screaming hot (and I bet wicked white) and it is slightly over the 2 carat mark and about 8K less than what you wanted to spend . . . just a thought!

Good Luck!

Another vote for the G VS1 - stunning stone!

Thank you all for your comments. Is it a good deal for the money?

I''m going to call WF tommorrow to have someone physically look at it and discuss it. That is the next step, right?
Anything else I need to do or be aware of before buying it?

Thanks so much!

Yes it is.

And I don't know what else needs to be asked. The IS pic tells us along with the specs that it has great light return. Clarity is not an issue. I'd say you're good to go! And be sure to reserve it if you want to still think on it a bit.

Gorgeous stone. And you're welcome!

Thanks Ellen. Based on your advise, I''m ready to buy. My girlfriend wants to keep the setting as simple as possible to show off the rock. I am thinking of going with the simple and traditional 4 prong Tiffany setting. Do you agree?

Is it recommended to have the diamond appraised first, or do I just call and order the diamond and ring and have them shipped straight to me?

Thanks and sorry for all the questions

go with a 6 prong.

the 4 prong make the RB stone look square.

Wonderful choice! BUT for a 30K stone I would want a fabulous setting to go with it! I would suggest Leon Mege or Mark Morrell for a solitaire to die for!

That said, WF have some gorgeous solitaire settings, I would go for one of these maybe?

My vote is for 6 prong on a 2ct stone - much more secure!

I'm definitely in the simple setting/let the stone shine camp. So I totally agree.

Number of prongs is personal really. The experts on here have said, if the setting is well made, 4 prongs are fine. Some do feel 6 give it a rounder appearance, but some like as little metal covering the stone as possible. I have 4 on a 1.40, and I don't find mine looking square. If in doubt, maybe go 6.

No need to apologize, that's what we're here for, and this is a very important purchase!
