I have been browsing the pricescope forums for a minute now trying to soak up all the information I could to make an educated decision about a diamond purchase. I believe I''m starting to make some sense of the intricacies of the diamond industry but I need some help in taking that one last step to actually purchasing a diamond online.

I''ve been searching for a 1.5ct Round Brilliant AGS0 or ideal cut diamond. I''m trying to stay in the G-H color range and nothing less than SI1 for cut all for around $11000. I''ve found a particular diamond on Blue Nile''s website that has the following specs:

Carat weight: 1.522 7.33 X 7.36 X 4.59mm
Cut Grade: Ideal
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Color Grade: G
Clarity Grade: SI1
Depth: 62.4%
Table: 55.6%
Culet: None
Flourescence: Negligible
Crown: 34.7 degrees
Pavilion: 40.9 degrees
Girdle: I''m a little unsure about this one. The certificate says "thin to slightly thick" but the website says (medium to very thick)??
HCA: 1.8 with an Excellent light return, Very Good fire, Very Good scintillation, and Very good spread.
Grand Total: $10277

Here is the link for it:

Okay, so is this diamond a good value or should I jump down a notch in color (perhaps an I) to get a hearts and arrows (still AGS0) diamond that would ensure better fire, scintillation, and light return?

Everyone''s thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

The report is a Diamond Quality Report, will not get a light performance cut grade AGS0, the cut grade on the report is just based on proportion, similar to what GIA is using, Girdle thickness is not a problem as it is common for BN to mis-labeled the girdle from AGS report.

This is a true AGS0 cut grade stone.

Go by the girdle thickness on the report, the med to very thick is a well known glitch on BN's software on the AGS translation, nothing to worry about. The diamond has potential.

The report is the new AGS Gold Report which replaces the old Diamond Quality Report, it offers a cut grade which is proportion based, not performance based as with the AGS0.

It could be a really nice stone. BN has a good return policy, so if interested, bring it home and have an independant appraiser have a look at it.
