Hi! I have read every post I can find about eternity rings, and am now ready to ask my own questions.

I really like the look of an eternity ring as an ering and because I am a chef it would be a much more practical choice. I know I want a roughly 3 carat shared prong platinum set ring, but I am uncertain about which cut of diamond I want and where the best places to shop are. After looking extensively online, these are my 3 favorites:

Would any of these be more or less comfortable than the other? Which would you recommend? How would these different cuts look in 3 carats-would the rose cut be enormous?

If anyone would post or link to pictures of their 3 carat eternity rings that would be really helpful. Thanks!

I understand what you''re saying about being a chef, but I don''t see how an eternity band, is going to be better. In fact, I think it might be much worse as there''s many more places food/dirt/ingrediants will get into to.

Out of the links, the rose cut is an interesting idea and I love rose cut diamonds but, I like them better in earrings and a single stone ring rather than an eternity. I think it might be a little too glassy looking.
Your other choices are Asscher and Round. Which shape do you prefer? They''re very different looks and it''s all up to your own personal taste.

I don''t believe any will be more comfortable than the other. At 3ct''s they''re all gong to be big. You need to see some in person with the different shapes and try them on.

That is what I was worried about with the rose cut. For the other 2 shapes, I like them equally. I was wondering if either one had a practical advantage over the other. I have seen some pictures of 3 carat eternity rings and I didn''t think they looked that huge. Am I wrong about that? Should I be looking at something smaller?
As far as my job is concerned, jewelry is never ideal. I don''t mind having to clean it more often, it is more a matter of a ring being in my way. I was actually engaged before (wrong guy, wrong ring :) ) with a three stone ring with the center stone about 1.75 carats. It did bother me at work. I would really hate for my bf to spend money on something I will rarely wear.

I also just really like eternity rings-they are my ideal.

On a chef they are all going to be gunk magnets, so I'd just get the cut I like better.

Personally I'd get the asscher because, even though you won't get to be able to make out the hall-of-mirrors effect that asschers are famous for, a 10 point asscher will have larger facets than a 10-point round.
This means larger flashes of color, which is a good thing when all the diamonds are in the 10 point range.

Ditto this. It is really hard to keep an eternity band clean, and having diamonds on the underside of the ring actually makes it more delicate. I would think a bezel set solitaire would be most practical!

If you just like the eternity band then go try them on and see what you think!

Unfortunately, my jewelry resources are very limited locally. I won''t be able to try them on until I take a trip.
I probably like the asscher most but I agree that it does look like it could be uncomfortable. Facets seems well recommended on this site, so I was wondering if anyone actually had that ring. I do really like the round cut a lot too-if that one will be much more comfortable it would be an easy choice.

For the record I am a pastry chef- it won''t be like I will have chunks of meat hanging out the ring it just may get more wear than the average person.

I have to suggest getting a bezel set ring as well. I do a lot of baking and my anniversary band is always taken off while I make any types of doughs or cake mixes. I do have a 3 stone semi bezel set ring and that one is really far easier to keep clean than the diamond band.

I do think rings like that are pretty but eternity bands really have a lot of negatives to me IMO. One of the biggest ones is that they are very hard to size, if not impossible. I admit one of my co-workers got an anniversary band for her engagement ring and for a few weeks everyone was asking when she got married.
