Hello everyone,
I''ve been lurking on this forum for about a month now, and learned so much. Thank you again for posting such wonderful and useful information.

My bf and I have been trying to decide on a stone. We have visited a couple of local jeweler''s and saw a few ideal cut diamonds that were really pretty, but none of them had GIA, or AGS certificates.
I feels like online retailers offer more information about stones than jewelers in person.
I found this one stone that has caught my eye and wanted to see what you (experts) thought.
I am not sure what to look for other than obvious things, without sending the stone in for appraisal.

Here are the specs:
Shape: H&A
Carat: 1.512
Color: J
Clarity: VS1
Depth: 60.5
Table: 55.7
Crown Angle: 34.8
Crown %: 15.3
Pavilion Angle: 40.8
Pavilion %: 43
Girdle: Thin-Sly Thick
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Culet: Pointed
Fluorescence: Negligible
Measurements: 7.46-7.47X4.52

Here is the ideal-scope picture

I would really really appreciate everyone''s opinions as I just feel I don''t know quite enough to make an information decision.

Thank you again!!!

(only the J to look out for...see some at your store, compare to higher colors, and see if this is any issue).

Thank you for your responses. I will definitely go and try to compare D stones to Js and see if I can tell them apart.
I have read very good things about ACA on this forum.

How do ACA diamonds compare to eightstars. I haven''t had the chance to go see them in person yet.

I definitely think diamond shopping is lots of fun, just wish there were less components in this equation and everything was a little more black and white. ;)

Thanks again!

You''ll probably be able to tell D apart from J, but unless you plan on wearing a D next to your J, I don''t think that should be your comparison. Rest a J stone next to your skin, between your fingers, see if the color bothers you. Better yet, see if they have one of those temporary spring settings so you can elevate it off your finger. Be sure to see it in many different lighting environments.

Good luck,
^

I will definitely compare the colors. Thanks!

Any advice on eightstar diamonds? Should I even look at them, or will they spoil me? ;)
