Hi... Can you please help me rate the clarity, a guideline of the size and the price of these stones. I''ve had them forever, and now that I''m actually more interested in them, I''d like to know. Thank you, all....

The first stone is about 7.5mm in diameter and a guess of the colour is an I. When I put it next to my certified F, you can see that it is slightly more yellow. Otherwise it looks fine. Here is another picture that shows the little carbon traces near the middle.

The second one is half a carat shy. It has some feathers (??) that is hard to see even with a 10x loupe (I took this picture using 3x zoom on my camera and the 10x loupe. I don''t know what that makes it... ). When I observe it in the sunshine with just the loupe, the feathers looks like a very thin lint. What do you think ?

Hi Eunice,
i'm afraid that what you're asking is almost impossible to rate accurately over a computer screen - people would be merely guessing at colour and clarity but these would vary as everyone's monitors look different in colour.
Size isn't possible as there's no reference - if you post the measurements of the stones ppl may be able to estimate from that.
Is it possible for you to just bring them in to a local jeweller or appraiser? They should be able to tell you rather quickly with a look under the loupe and chuck it on the scales..

But for value, your best bet would be to visit an appraiser - you can find one under the "resources" tab on PS.
but nice diamonds anyway!

Hi Eunice, I agree with AJ, an appraiser would be the best person to tell you what you actually have.

You can use this tool to find an appraiser in your area. http://www.pricescope.com/appr_list.aspx

This is the third one. I was just wondering what a girdle chip would do to the value of the stone. It is an H and you can''t see a thing under all that lenses. I''m guessing it''s about 45 pts.

Hi ! Thanks for replying. I know that it''s almost impossible. And it''s really hard to get an appraiser I can trust. Someone always knows someone else who does it better (sell better blings) or badmouth someone else (the one who sold the stone), etc.

So I thought the general public who has no personal interest might be able to give me a better guideline. I''m not planning to sell these or anything, so a guess would be fine.

Ohh.. I actually made a mistake. The second stone is actually a little over half a carat.

Here is the last stone. It is an I and it''s 51 pts. I can''t see any blemish in it, and the polish is very very nice.

Thank you...... Any comments would be much appreciated....

Eunice i''m not very good at this kinda thing so i''m afraid i can''t offer a guess.
But with regards to an appraiser, there are impartial ones out there! The trick is to go to an Independent one, meaning one that never sells or jewellery or hawks others bling! - the link lorelei posted is where you can find PS recommended appraisers. These guys are reputable, and a number of them often post on here with very good advice.
