I'm a complete diamond noob looking for a diamond for engagement ring.
Being a noob, I narrowed down to 4 diamonds but I can't choose which one is better.
Perhaps resident diamond experts here can guide me to right direction.
Personally #1 is my favorite

3. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.80-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-sku-8329750
4. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.70-carat-f-color-vs1-clarity-sku-10293343
My budget is around 12K~ for diamond
If you see better diamond for my price range, I'd appreciate it if you could link for me.

Thank you

Like Garry said, ASET or idealscope would tell us more but I'm not sure if you can get them right now. Here's my opinion just based on
the looks of the stone. Have you requested the GIA reports? Post them if you've got them.

1 Like this one the most
2 Like this one second best...this one is bigger though
3 No, X through the center dark and the rest looks like leakage
4 No, center mostly mush (no good light return)

The first stone looks the best to me. The second one has some asymmetry that would probably bug me long term. The third and fourth have too much leakage.

Definitely put stone 1 on hold. I also like stone 2. No to 3 and 4.

Thank you all for quick responses. It seems like #1 I posted got sold already.
Thanks for the information on ideal-scope image. I've never heard of that before and just did a little crash course on it. lol What a great information.
@musicloveranthony mentioned asymmetry, are there some numbers or methods to see if a diamond has good asymmetry?
How is quality and workmanship of James Allen settings? Is it better to get loose diamond from James Allen and get setting from local reputable jeweler?
Is there any other online diamond dealers you can recommend?
Thank you

It's not bad asymmetry! Just a tiny bit. Overall that second one looks like a great diamond.

Like someone mentioned above, if there's a stone you like you should have them hold it. The good ones can go quickly! Especially quickly if someone posts them :loopy:

Thanks for your help.
Here's the GIA report on #2 diamond I posted.

What are your thoughts on this one.

THat looks really nice in that photo. The JA photo must have been at a wonky angle. That's a really nice stone. I would ask them if the clouds impact the clarity and transparency. Sometimes they can make a stone look "milky." It doesn't look like that one is, but it's worth asking.

Looks really solid

The photo I posted was from local dealer.

I think #2 looks better but I have no idea what to look for so... lol

Local dealer stone is much better cut. YOu're looking for areas of brightness - that shows light bouncing back. The first stone has areas where you can see through the stone - that would be areas that wouldn't reflect much light. I also don't like the symmetry on that James Allen stone. If you put a piece of paper over the left side and then the right side you'll see that the left is a bit more "droopy" for lack of better description.
