I'm very close to taking the plunge and purchase this stone as my upgrade. But because I'm really OCD (even DH can't stand me when it comes to diamonds), I need your expert opinions to make a final decision. Many thanks in advance!

Here's the stone:

2.4 ct I VS2 ACA
HCA = 1.5 ex-ex-vg-vg

IS, Aset, and Hearts:

1. Does it look like this stone has less red and more grayish/pink colors surrounding the center (inside the table, between the arrows) than average, like say, this stone? Would that be an issue?

Here're this stone's IS and Aset:

2. I notice the date on its AGS report is June, 2013. That seems such a long time ago. Because I can't see it in person, I worry how come it's still not sold? I'm sure lots of people have seen it in person in their Houston store, could it be possible that it is not a good performer in real life?

3. Last but not least importantly, if June 2013 indeed was such a long time ago, would it be possible for me to negotiate a discount with WF? Also, does WF offer additional discounts besides pricescope, wire transfer, and the $100 refer for this size stone?

Thank you so much for all of your help!

Sorry I have no idea how to insert pictures... I thought I could just paste the url... Do I have to save the pictures and then upload them?

June 2013 is not a long time ago for a report. In fact, I'd consider that fairly recent.
You're also looking at a 2+ carat/higher price point, so stones like these are not "flying off the shelves."

Because I saw a 2.5+ that came out last October and was already sold last month, so I thought 6 months was a long time hehe... Thanks!

I'm assuming it hasn't been sold simply because not many people buy $30,000 items on the internet. You can ask for an additional discount, but I haven't heard of any special discounts on this forum, other than the ones you mentioned. If you wait long enough, you won't pay anything for that diamond because someone else will buy it :)

To answer your underlying question, there are no red flags on that diamond.

1. no
2. no.
3. that is between you and WF.

That stone is goint to knock your socks off! As for it sitting a few months, that's not a sign of any problem at all. Plus, diamonds don't have to eat, age, or get brittle sitting in the safe, so I wouldn't bat an eye aver a 6 month old cert. I stumbmed across one on their site once that had papers well over a year old. I stapped that stone up, because it was listed at a year old price, too. :appl:

All ACA's are great stones. I don't give more than a glance to the images because the stones are consistently great. The vast majority of stones sold are going to be under 2 cts., so it is not unusual for larger stones to wait longer before being sold. Some people look for higher color or lower clarity, so there are just different preferences that result in some stones selling faster than others. So there are no concerns whatsoever regarding this diamond if I VS2 is what you want.

I think their prices are already reasonable if you compare to something like Hearts on Fire that run 30%+ more. You can always ask, but the PS/wire discounts are usually all they do.

Thank you guys for your replies. Sorry for being so paranoid since this is such a large purchase, and I feel so nervous for buying something of this value and not see it in person first, but all of the things that I learned from this forum and from all of you have made me confident enough to go ahead and take the plunge. Thank you so much for all of your help.

Thankfully they have a great return and upgrade policy if you ever decide you want a change in specs! But I think you'll love it! Please post pictures when you get it!

Hi Winstondistrict,

I'm just curious, were you able to negotiate with WF? Also, would love to see pics :)
