Hi all,
Well, I decided against the RB that I posted about previously... I think (from avidly reading these boards for a few months) that I prefer an older cut. I am not a dainty little girl, and I think the chunkier cut would suit me better. My jeweller is not too enthusiastic as he feels brilliance is everything but will go with whatever I bring him. (he really only designs jewellery but is working with this for me)
What do I need to look for when looking for an older cut? I have seen some on line (I haven't been able to see any in person - I am in Western Australia) and they don't look great. Then I look at the rings posted on SMTB and they look fabulous! It is that the stones I am looking at are not great?
For instance, would this be suitable for a ring, or is it too shallow? They suggest to use for a pendant, which makes me think it is not good for a ring.

Another I have looked at is this:
http://fineantiquediamonds.co.uk/20ed11/product_info.php?products_id=160
I have corresponded with the seller on this, and she says it is definitely eye clean, only inclusions are white feathers, no black spots at all.
I am looking for something up to 1.5ct. My budget all up is around $5k, but I have to allow for 15% duty & tax into Australia.
Would either of these make a beautiful ring (I would be having it reset)? Does anyone have any they have seen that would be a good buy?
Many thanks in advance!
