Well my search is on, I am going to be replacing my lost ring and I need some help. I don''t really know what I want , I think I would be open to almost any shape except a princess, I deffinately want cut to be the most important , next size, I would like the biggest I can get for the money without it looking like crap, I am replacing a halo ring so i am used to some fingure coverage. clarity I am not too worried about I figure inclusions could help me identify my stone, and as far as color goes I saw a K and I definately saw warmth in it so maybe nothing below a J. My budget is $2000.00 at the most. I think what I am going to do is get a stone now in a simple setting and down the road get a custom setting or a three stone ring.
I really appreciate any help all of you can offer. Although I have been around here for a while I haven''t mastered the details of diamonds, I just know I love them!! So thanks in advance for any suggestions.

ooh Storm I will deffinately look into that one, thank you. I don''t mind flor. and thought it would help if I went with a lower color grade. I was also thinking I might save some money by getting something other that a RB but that is what I am used to and love the sparkle they give off, I think I would miss that.

MMM Mara that one looks yummy! I do like H&A, do you know what the pricescope discount is? Does it depend on the stone or the vendor?

ok that''s pretty good!

Hi all, I am going to look at a estate piece this week and wondered what to look for in looking at a diamond that might not have a cert. The center stone is alittle over 1ct and there are small yellow diamonds on the shank. I am not sure of the age or if the cut is an old mine or european or if it is a modern round, they didn''t have much info on the phone because it was just brought in. The ring is at a local B&M that has a high end rep so I trust them, I just don''t know if there is anything I should watch out for or make sure of. If you have any thoughts please let me know.
Thanks,
Lisa

if you like it, could you have it sent to an independent appraiser before purchase? it sounds very cool!

I bought my OEC from a high end estate jeweler. It was beautiful and I loved it. But, we purchased before I found PS and I overpaid by about 3K

. The mark-up was crazy. See if they''ll send it to an independant appraise to determine the value. If they won''t, check out their return policy and see if you can buy it, get it to and appraiser and have time to return it if it doesn''t check out. The biggest thing I''d worry about though is paying more than you should

mrssalvo, does your ring sparkle alot?? Silly question but I don''t have much experience with older cuts and don''t know how they perform! The price for this piece sounds good, maybe too good to be true. I will deffinately have it looked at by an appraiser and make sure they have a return policy.
