Hi all!

I''ve been looking at diamonds lately and there was already a diamond that I liked from James Allen but I''m reconsidering because I''m thinking of sacrificing on Clarity and Color to gain some Carat.

My budget is 7 to 7.5K. I''m willing to go down to an I color and SI1 Clarity if need be. I know you all place a premium on cuts though. I''m hoping I could get something that''s AGS0 or GIA Excellent?

Sorry for having to ask; it''s like the more I learn here on Pricescope, the more unable I am to really find something! :)

Thanks! Your replies are always greatly appreciated. :)

Reread your last thread and took a look. Here is a couple from James Allen--ask for an IS on the first and about eye clean on the second. Several of the vendors just didn't have much in the size and price range you were looking for at the moment. They are getting shipments constantly, though so you might keep an eye out.

I would also suggest contacting Brian Gavin Diamonds.

www.briangavindiamonds.com

They don't have a searchable database up yet, but Lesley will respond promptly to any request. From what I have seen, they are extremely competitive on price and any BG Signature H&A will be a beautiful stone. If you gave them a budget with minimum color and clarity, they would be able to find you a great diamond.

You might want to try Whiteflash. I''ve been looking for AGS0 I SI1 and they have a great selection that''s in your price range. I''m no expert by any means so I''m not going to tell you what would be a good buy. But I thought I''d just let ya know that their selection is awesome and you should definitely give them a look. Sorry I wasn''t of more help!

Thanks everyone for the replies! I''ve been looking at (and considering) the diamonds you show me. It''s quite nice getting out of that G/VS1 box. :)

Well, I lied. I found one. I just don''t know if it''s as big as you want, it''s 1.16 AGS0 VS2 I. Maybe an expert will give an opinion on this. I''m thinking I did an alright job lol.

Hahaha! :) Great diamond! It''s not a huge departure from the 1.14 I was looking at but this looks really good to me. Great price too! :)

I''m also considering this because WF has really pretty settings!

@ Jet and Stonecold: I also contacted JA for the diamonds you showed me. :) I hope I get a reply soon.

I just contacted briangavindiamonds.com and it seems like their prices are pretty competitive as well. :) I''m just waiting for a couple of reports from them. I''m quite excited, actually. :)

Any idea how much their settings will set me back? I noticed they only do custom?

Yes! I guess I''m kind of getting the hang of this.

@Rusticrhythm- Would you mind sharing the specs and prices of the diamonds you''re looking at from Brian? I''ve heard he does excellent work but I don''t want to shoot them an email because we''re not quite ready to buy. But I''d like to have a comparison of sorts. I''m searching for the same specs as you but my diamond budget is slightly lower. I''ve been trying to keep it below 6500. The future mister said to keep the ring below 8,000 and the setting I''m dying over is 1400.The only reason why I''ve been searching whiteflash is because of the 3 row domed pave. But if Brian''s prices are comparable I''d love to give him the business since I''ve heard nothing but great things about him. By the way which WF settings have you taken a liking to?

Hi Laura! :) :) :)

I''m super super SUPER excited. I gave Lesley my minimums (G/H/I) and I said that I can go down to an SI1. I didnt mention anything about the CUT preference anymore because I''m pretty sure the cut will be exqusite! I also mentioned that I wanted a couple more carats than the diamond I''m currently in love with right now (which is 1.14).

The prices between the BG and WF are very competitive . They don''t have a lot of diamonds in their inventory it seems (or maybe they were few because of my limited budget LOL) but the diamonds that Lesley mentioned to me ranged from 6k to 7k. She mentioned she had 4 diamonds within my price range; 2 of them were around 6500! :)

Don''t worry I''ll share all the details with you as soon as I have more info available! I dont have a lot of information on me now; the only thing that''s keeping me going is the knowledge that I could afford it! :) I thought I couldnt!

I liked the Legato setting from Whiteflash. :) But I''m also looking into just getting a very simple solitaire in case I have a go (a teeny tiny bit) over budget.

Good luck to us! :) I''m going to be needing help of PScopers in choosing a diamond anyway so for sure I''ll be listing all the specs once they are available. :)

Its a new business and they probably do have stock settings, give Lesley a call or email to find out, she is lovely and will let you know what they have.

Glad to hear you contacted Lesley. BGD has gotten great reviews on PS for service and quality--I''m sure they will be able to do a simple solitaire setting. Can''t wait to see what you come up with.

^MANY MANY thanks to you, Jet2ks, for steering me in that direction!!! :) I just finalized the order today. I am BEYOND excited! :)
