Ok so my brother is ready to pop the question to his girlfriend and he has enlisted my help! I have become slightly obsessed with my own project and so he knows I have a bit more knowledge on the topic than he does! Basically, I told him what I thought and he wants me to handle it and just have him ok the $ part. Yay, fun for me, but I don't know a ton about the shape diamond she wants. I have read a lot on this site regarding ovals, but I am still a bit under informed to be choosing the diamond. So...should I just go with GOG and give Jonathan my wants and budget and see what he can find? Here is what I was thinking...
Brothers Budget...(for setting and stone) $10,000.00 so $6500-7000 for diamond...maz of $7500 to allow for setting
Oval G-H-I VS2
thinking he can prob get 1.3ct or so in size....
CUT, CUT, CUT! we want it to be great
wants a delicate halo, bead set on shank and halo with milgrain.
shank to be 2mm
we really want a minimal bow tie and he really does prefer a "shorter, fatter" shape versus long and skinny. Girlfriend is being surprised but I have done some serious recon and know that she likes all shaped ovals. I know she likes a dainty halo but likes the diamond color to be creamy like a vintage diamond, but not with obvious color. Is G-I a good range? Im just not too sure what makes a good cut for an oval as that is most important? Any help would be amazing!!
Thank you so much
