Hi PSers,

I've been trying to find the perfect new setting for my .98 diamond for the last month now. I like lots of bling and sparkle, and I think a solitaire setting isn't doing it for me anymore.

BUT here's my dilemma. There are two 3 stone Martin Flyer Fit settings I'm looking at. One has pear sides at a quarter carat each (.50ctw) and one has baguette sides at a quarter carat each (.50ctw). I am worried that the carat weight of these sidestones might overwhelm my center stone. As I mentioned, my diamond is a .98 carat BUT it faces up SMALL for it's carat weight (it is only 6.23 mm

). So it's probably more like a .85 carat stone. So my question is--would these proportions be ok for my diamond, or would they be too overpowering?

Here are the settings below:

.50 tw Pears: http://www.since1910.com/engagement-rings/martin-flyer/settings-with-sidestones/flyerfit-pear-shape-pave-diamond-setting-mf-5137spsrpl-set-1430.aspx

.50 tw baguettes: http://www.since1910.com/engagement-rings/martin-flyer/settings-with-sidestones/martin-flyer-baguette-and-pave-diamond-setting-mf-4209ffcxwr-set-1425.aspx

Keep in mind the examples shown both have bigger center diamonds set in them than mine. Thank you for your opinions!! Please help a nutty girl out so I can stop angsting about this silliness.

have you looked at http://www.brianthecutter.com/ go to his blog and midway.. I think there are three sets of pear shaped sidestones ring, from .90 Center with .40ctw pear (I think works wonderfully) this will give you an idea of how it may look with yours.

Take a gander at summertime''s SMTR thread (HERE). IMO, her ring has fabulous proportions. HTH...
