engagement ring: 4-prong platinum solitaire
wedding band: platinum band channel-set with 6 sapphires and 5 diamonds
My engagement ring is about six years old. The crown has been replaced, as I caught the ring on a door (and thank goodness I didn''t take off a finger) and deformed the ring enough that the prongs loosened and the stone could be twirled around in the setting. I later had the ring sized up a bit.
I''ve slowly lost weight over the years, and now both my engagement ring and wedding band don''t fit. I estimate I may need them to be sized down by as much as a whole size.
Can these rings be sized down that much? Is it a good idea?
I have never liked the cathedral-ness or the prongs on my ring, but I am not sure yet that I want to just get a new ring. If I do completely reset my diamond, would my old engagement setting be worth anything?
