I have recently been looking at GIA oval diamonds in the 2-3 carat range and came across this diamond. I have seen it in person and it is eye clean (feather inclusion not visible unless under 10x magnification), however I am particularly concerned about the depth which is low for an oval. Here are the stats:

Oval Brilliant
Measurements: 11.79 x 8.55 x 4.38 mm

Carat Weight: 3.01 carat
Color Grade: I
Clarity Grade: SI2

Proportions:
Depth: 51.2%
Table: 51%
Girdle: Thin to Very Thick, Faceted
Culet: None

Finish:
Polish: Good
Symmetry: Good
Fluorescence: Faint

There is no obvious bowtie and although an I, the stone faces up very white. Please let me know what you think since I am far from a professional, thank you!!!

do you have pictures?

No pictures, unfortunately :((

I know each diamond is unique and that it is impossible to tell based on the stats alone, but I am trying to see if there are any obvious red flags from the GIA statistics.

Thanks!

Having seen it in person you are in the best position to judge it. How did it look? My european cut is just 53% and still a firecracker with huge spread. If it looks good in person I would love a 3ct with that little depth since it will face up more like 3.75  (judging by mine is 2ct facing like 2.5). It has a little table which helps avoid fisheye if that's an effect ovals can experience.

I know nothing about this specifications but fisheye term make me worry! It's too ugly! I think if acijle3 had a fisheye diamond she would have seen immediately.

I compared the diamond to a similar sized H VS2 and it actually seemed like the H had much more of a bowtie than the I. I looked at both indoors and in direct sunlight. I am just worried that the I SI2 it is too good to be true, since although not cheap, the 3.01 faces up much larger than other diamonds of the same weight due to the shallow depth.

Pictures! Not great pictures but at least its something. Which diamond do you like better? One is the 3.01 I Si2, the other is a 2.22 H VS2. Ignore the settings! Those are just to get an idea of what the diamonds would look like in a halo setting.

Which is which?

It's also too hard to tell from a picture like that. We'll need way better pictures.

Do have any better pictures? An Aset image is also helpful when we can't see it in person.
