Please help me determine if this diamond is a good purchase?

Hi All,

I am new to the forum, and new to diamond buying, and so overwhelmed with all the information I am reading online, by visiting jewelers, and reading countless articles!

Can you help me decide if this is a good diamond, for the price? I want a diamond that is "eye-clean", sparkles, and not too concerned how it looks like under a microscope.

Thank you!

Welcome from one diamondseeker to another! :wavey:

The link will not take me to the diamond, so I can't see the grading report to see the angles. Can you post the crown angle and pavilion angle?

I will tell you in advance that I would never buy a diamond without photos, and especially not an SI1. Inclusions vary a LOT in SI1's and you simply have to see magnified images of the stone. I would also want an idealscope or ASET image showing light return. Lots of vendors provide these.

Thank you for the welcome diamondseeker2006! Great username ;) haha..

I have requested an image of the diamond, and am awaiting the results. I'm sorry the link didn't work, but the GIA number is 5196264772 and hopefully this link to the report will work:

http://www.gia.edu/cs/Satellite?pagename=GST%2FDispatcher&childpagename=GIA%2FPage%2FReportCheck&c=Page&cid=1355954554547&reportno=5196264772

Here are the detailed specifications you asked for, from the GIA report (in case you can't click on the link), and hopefully it will give you enough information to give me some guidance.

Any and all info is much appreciated!

Stone 1 looks good. I don't like the second stone. Numbers are not as good and it says the SI1 grade is based on clouds not shown. The price for a 2 carat H seems low too, though I haven't looked to actually confirm this. If indeed it is priced lower than similar stones, I bet there are some issues due to the clouds.

I agree that the second stone has too many risks. The first one has good numbers. I will be interested to see whatever images you can get from BN.

The strong fluorescence is influencing the price as well. When considering diamonds with fluorescence it is important to understand the pros and cons of that characteristic. There have been a number of recent discussions here on the topic that you might want to read through. Also there is a pricescope tutorial here: https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/diamond-flourescence
