Hi everyone,
I’m looking for hints to tell my jeweler when designing my three stone ring. The center stone will be around a 1.5 ct rb and it will have .3rbs on either side. My ring size is 3.5 and the diamonds will be set in platinum, not sure if that matters. I’d like to have my wedding band sit flush against the ring. I’ve looked at past threads and have enjoyed looking at all your beautiful three stone rings and thought I’d pick your brains to see what you love, what you’d change, and anything else you may think would be helpful. Feel free to post pics as well; I love all the eye candy!
Thanks so much for your help!

I''d do something from www.precisionset.com

here''s a pic, the ratio is diffent than your wanting..

Here''s a Ritani that has a little over 1 carat center with .27 rounds on each side..

Thanks for posting pics mrssalvo! I LOVE the look of the precision set...it''s actually exactly what I''m going for. I haven''t been able to find too many pics of it though, so I don''t know what I should tell my jeweler about it.

I guess my issue is this--it seems like most three stone rings don''t sit flush with wedding bands. Is there a reason for this? I know that a lot of people purchase three stone rings as an anniversary ring, with the intention of having it stand alone without a wedding band. I''m really thinking of my ring as being a solitaire with diamond accents...and I want to make sure that it is constructed this way.

Perhaps I should give a little more background to place my concerns in perspective. My boyfriend is going to be working with his family jeweler to construct this ring and it will be our engagement ring. At his request (my boyfriend''s that is) I will have the opportunity to give some ideas and pictures and my boyfriend will take it from there. It''s very important to him that this be somewhat of a surprise and I just want to present him and the jeweler with as much info as possible before they begin the task of constructing my ring.

I''m not sure if any of this is making any sense but I just thought I''d throw it out there...

Thanks again for any help that you all may be able to provide...

most 3 stones are made in basket settings so a wedding band can''t sit flush. you have to have the stones raised a bit higher like precision set does it or the ritani to allow for a flush fit. I don''t know why most 3 stones are designed that way but a lot of rings are made without considering or accomodating a wedding band. Good for you for thinking about it ahead of time, many times gals come here after they''ve picked their e-ring and realize they can''t wear a wedding band. I think tradionally a solitaire has been used for an engagement ring and 3 stones were marketed as anniversary rings. they are becoming popular as 3-rings but there just aren''t a ton of designs out there. Check out pearlman''s website. many of the designers there like Scott Kay have 3 stone wedding sets so you might get some good ideas.

Here are two that I have come across that I really like...

Thanks mrssalvo...have you heard of an elevated basket setting? I really like the precise look of the baskets...or do you think I might be better off with a trellis setting? Not quite sure if rings naturally sit flush against the trellis setting or if it has to be elevated as well.

jayrenay-thanks for posting the pics, they are very pretty!

Just to give you another perspective on the three stone, mine has the diamonds set in semi-bezels. It is made to have a matching pave wedding band (although mine was an anniversary ring and I wear it alone). I have a 1.24 carat center stone and .50 each sidestones so the proportions are a little different than what you are considering, but it gives you another style to look at.

i think for any 3 stone to sit flush it would have to be elevated so that the rings can sit flush or look like sundial''s rings that have a flatness to the sides (no basket) so a band can sit flush.
