Hi everyone! New poster here...

A little background...my stone fell out of my setting last weekend. After an exhaustive search, we filed our insurance claim. I've been working with the insurance company's jeweler, and he offered me a few options OR a payout of 11,900. While his options were better than I'd expected, I ran my diamond's specs in a PS search, and I feel that I'd probably get a better "deal" and a better stone from one of the PS vendors. Here are my three options, as well as the option he provided me with.

Should I just go with the option he is offering me, or should I choose one of these diamonds and use the remaining money toward a new, simple solitary setting? Has anyone used Enchanted Diamonds before? I havent' noticed their name much while brosing the PS forums this week to educate myself. I'm leaving it to the PS experts!! Thank you!!!

Sorry I have no time to respond to this but I want to get it back to the top so someone can help you. Stay away from that insurance suggested stone. It's a bad one. Way too shallow. Will have a huge spread but will have poor optics.

The first one is UGLY!... :knockout:

Option #1: HCA = 2.6
Option #2: HCA = 1.3 (60/60 diamond)
Option #3: HCA = 1.0

I like option #3 best out of all 3 stones. Do you have to buy from Enchanted Diamonds?

Thank you SO MUCH for responding! I'm such a newbie, but trying to learn.

No, I don't have to buy from the insurance company's rep, but they are only offering me "like and kind"-- carat size increased slightly due to their available options, but Color went down. They sent me the diamond to inspect, and to me, it looks lovely, but do I have a better option? The ones I posted are all within my allowable spend.

The blue flor doesn't bother me, but the shallowness is bad, right?

B2c has the same diamonds offered as Enchanted, and they've agreed to price match. Is that a better company?

Update from the b2c rep: the 1.8 is clear. The 1.75 and 1.74 are "milky"?

IMO the insurance company option is a non-starter, and if the last 2 are milky, those also should be off your list.

Here's a link to more info on fluorescence and how sometimes it can make a stone look milky/hazy/oily: https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/diamond-flourescence

The 1.8 has possibilities - if you did choose it, does the insurance company give you a period of time in which to inspect it and accept/reject it - meaning, could you return it and choose the insurance pay-out instead?

I did take quick looks at WhiteFlash, Brian Gavin Diamond, Good Old Gold, and James Allen - but did not see stones with comparable specs coming in below $12K.

Would you be ok dropping to I color? That might open up quite a bit more opportunity to find a well cut stone in your budget.

Thanks so much for the help!! I am truly appreciative!!

I read the link on strong blue florescence. To be honest, it doesn't bother me as long as I can't see it during normal wear.

I plan for this to be my "forever diamond" - (as I planned for the last one to be...sigh). Barring some unexpected lottery windfall, I don't see myself upgrading my stone in the future, so the resale value is of little importance to me. I just want something beautiful that I can pass down to my children some day. As long as the blue flor doesn't impact the look of the stone, I'm ok with it.

With that said, I am much more concerned with cut and size over color and clarity. I'd like to get the biggest bang for my buck, size and cut wise. I don't have problems dropping down to an I if I could find something better than the 1.8 I posted above.

Nothing against Enchanted diamonds! Looks like they have the best prices, and that's where I'll be buying
