Ok guys,

I think after several months of reading endless educational articles and various posts on different forums i'm finally going to buy a stone this week as the clock is ticking and i really need to propose.

I have narrowed my search down to the following stones. Could you please help me choose one of these based only on the info given and the price. Which one seems to give me the best value for money.

I know that it is difficult to assess a diamond without reviewing AGS reports and photos etc, but if i could ask you please to just select one "purely" based on the specs given by GIA and the vendor price, which one would you go for.

I appreciate your help in advance. This is a big decision for me.

I'm leaning more towards #4 myself. Is it worth spending the extra money to go to #5? or do you think i should drop to #2 and save some money. I think there will be a noticeable difference in size between 2 and 4.

Please help me out. Thank you so much.

Thanks for your suggestions, but i feel no one has actually answered my original post.

No pictures means nothing can really be said about them. You can ask for a picture, and what they give you is sometimes useful, sometimes not useful.

You don't want to buy any of those stones without more information and proof of performance.

Buying without pictures and ASET is a crap shoot which no one on PS will recommend. Why would you want to spend thousands on a diamond and roll the dice. THat is a totally uneducated way to purchase a diamond. Who wants to do that? If you want to buy online where you can get the best stone for your budget then you simply deal with the sites who provide the most information and diamond testing to prove that they will perform well.

People have answered your question, but you don't seem to be "listening" and the answer is:

You don't want to buy any of those stones without more information and proof of performance.

If that online vendor chooses not to give you more information then find a vendor that will. GOG, Whiteflash, Brian Gavin, James Allen, Excel Diamonds, etc.

The one on WhiteFlash is gorgeous and it has PROOF that it will be a nice performing princess cut.

Are you in Australia and thus buying from that vendor?

Have you looked at princess cuts in person?

They hide inclusions pretty well so if you can find an SI1 or even an SI2 that is eye clean you can find a larger stone and save several thousands$$.

If you look at the princess cuts on GOG, Brian Gavin and WhiteFlash...the ones they recommend usually have the smaller tables.

I suggest you view some of GOG educational videos on choosing a princess cut plus educate your self on color.

Once you watch this video you will be able to watch others Jon has posted on youtube and it will be evident why you cannot choose a stone just by the GIA report. High Color and clarity DO NOT make a diamond beautiful...CUT IS KING and a lower colored stone can out perform a higher color stone as seen in the above video from GOG.

This stone faces up quite a bit larger and is several thousands less.

Will this Zoara company call in several stones for you to look at? H is still in the colorless range.
Both of these stones face up larger and are supposedly "eye clean" according to Zoara.

But still you will not know if these stones are really good performing princess cuts.

Educate yourself first and then buy the stone based on performance alone. The advantage of buying from GOG is that they will call in several stones and do a video of all 3 and you can choose which one you prefer, plus getting their expert opinion. when buying online they offer the best service of anyone IMO, especially for newbies. You have a really nice budget so I would hate for you to choose a dud just because you liked the GIA report.

Hope this helps.

Thank you everyone for your great comments. I'm so glad i found this forum. I'm just very nervous about spending 20k online on a ring without actually seeing it. I fully agree with all your comments and understand where you are all coming from. It's much appreciated.

Yes i am from Australia and have actually looked at many princess cut stones at my local jewellery stores. However, the price difference between my local jewellers and online vendors is mind blowing. Also the range here is very very limited.

Based on your comments, i am giving the following stone some consideration. However i'm very uncomfortable with all those feathers at the back of the stone. Wouldn't they pose a durability risk? And the fact that its a SI1 makes me even more uncomfortable. But otherwise this is a fantastic stone. How much would it cost to get something like this GIA certified too? It's mainly because here in Australia GIA is a big thing, even though im sure many of you don't agree.
