Just had my eBay OEC appraised and am going to keep it. :)) I'm torn between two settings, though. Which of these do you think would look best with a channel set eternity ring (1.5 pointers) on a size 9 finger?

The stone to be set is a 1.21 M VS1 OEC.

Here's the first one -- I like the ornate filigree, the fact that the diamond sits quite low in the setting, and the shinyness of it (since it seems sort of unusual to find a vintage style ring without any milgrain at all). My concern with this one is the shape of the ring -- is it shaped too much like a class ring? http://www.engagement-ring-mountings.com/antique_ring_settings_info_1669.htm#more_pictures

And here's the second one -- I like the prongs a lot and I like the engraving (probably because that's what I'm used to having). My concern with this one is a lack of finger converage -- I'd be going from a halo, so I feel like the stone would feel small and naked, if that makes any sense at all! http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=169

I personally don't like the first one. The second one on the other hand  .

I love halos and I like warmth so if I were setting this stone I would go for an antique style halo. I quite like this one from Beverly K http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/beverley-k-jewelry/rings/101PP1/

I would also ask Neil if your stone would work in a bezel setting. Many old cuts need the extra light from the pavilion. I made the mistake of not looking into that, lets just say my OMC was not a happy camper in a thick bezel.

I love that second setting, especially with the sapphire accent stones. Also I think it would go better with your eternity ring. I can't really imagine ring number 1 with a traditional eternity ring.

Well, I had a long talk with myself and decided to go with . . . neither!

I've just sent an order in for this one from Leigh Jay Nacht:

I've been really impressed with their customer service and spoke to Winona today after exchanging a few emails. She was really helpful and I intially went with a different ring (I think mostly because I was desperate to end the search for a setting), but I kept going back to look at this one and decided to go with it instead. It gives me some of the "oomph" around the center stone that I'm looking for while also giving me the antique look I want. It's a halo without being a halo, which is the best of both worlds for me!

I'm officially NOT looking at any more settings. I keep falling in love with them and then changing my mind! Searching for a setting has definitely irritated my OCD tendencies!

I LOVE that setting, natascha! I've had it marked for a while, but the bezel setting held me back as I don't really *love* bezels. It's so, so pretty, though, isn't it?

Can I just say I loved the Beverly Hillbillies- and I love your user name ( I've also had a crush on her since I was 8 years old :)

Hee hee! She was PURDY, weren't she?! Ellie May is my mom's nickname -- thought I'd steal it for PS purposes. :))
