Hello guys,

First I would like to congratulate you for this great forum and information. Second I really need your help to buy a great engagement ring for my budget. Unfortunately I am located in Romania and it seems that the only ones who are willing to ship here are Blue Nile and you can't see the real diamond (only GCAL report for Blue Nile signature cut). I would like to order an engagement ring (white gold, probably solitaire, four prong) with a round diamond (ideal-excellent cut / G-H or maybe even I colour / around 0.55-0.6 ct / VS1-VS2-SI1-SI2 clarity - "eye clean" to naked eye). The budget is around 1750-1800 EUR (including taxes - 20% VAT).

I looked on Blue Nile the last days and cannot decide if I should go for their signature ideal (H&A) cut with 0.5-0.53ct, I colour, SI1 clarity, so I can see the 10x pictures of the real diamond and it's GCAL report, like this one:

Or I could find a 0.6-0.62 ct, ideal cut, I colour, VS1-2 clarity for the same price and try to find a good HCA score for a lower price

http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD07081755
http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD07011575 - a little over the budget

But in second situation I cannot see the pictures of the real diamond, so that's why I intend to go with higher clarity. Please tell me what do you think of my options and which diamond would you recommend for me.

Also what do you think about these stones?

If you can, please recommend a better store that is willing to ship to my country.

Thank you in advance and sorry for the "long story"

OK, so,to your first question, no. I don't think you need to actually see the round. For the size your after, the difference between a 50 and 60 pointer will be more noticeable than between a giaxxx and one of their signature line.

I went to look for one myself and I was a fan of this one

LD06901896 (you'll notice linking doesn't seem to work with blue Nile so search that number)

If you could afford it I like these two settings from them

Thanks Niel,

I wasn't aware that the links on BN don't work. Sorry for that.

That is a nice stone indeed and the settings are beautiful.

What do you think of this rocks?

LD07104770 - it is cheaper, bigger and has a HCA score of 1.3. I am a little bit worried about it's Strong Blue Fluorescence, but if I decide to go with it I will ask BN to assure me that it's not hazy.

LD07011575 - it is a little over my budget but I might make an effort if needed.

Thank you again for your advice.

Just to be on the safe side I wouldn't get one with strong fluorescence. I like fluor, but we don't know if your gf does. And if she doesn't do you want to deal with returns? Same if it turns out to be negatively impacted by the fluorescence.

I wouldn't go over your budget, as I do think you want to save a bit for the setting too. You want a nice whole ring, not just stone and a cheap setting. You know?

Yeah, you are right, the setting should also be nice. However, your recommendations are a little bit over my budget and I might have to drop down on the rock. Do you know any promo coupon for BN? :)

I'm. It great with conversation, if I'm on the the blue Nile Eu page, how much all in can you spend? If I add the stone and setting, what amount doesn't it need to come to so after taxes your still in budget?

I am trying to keep it under 1800-1850 EUR, including taxes. Of course, lower is better, but hey you can't have it cheap and great :D

Thanks again for your help.

It's unique yet still classic so that's nice. I still like the sturdiness and height of the soli I posted above, but I get it , that one is cheaper
