Guys, please help me make the right choice...being super indecisive :)

First one is GIA, second one is EGL...EGL one will cost me about 800 bucks more...is it worth it? It had a better sparkle because of the table size being smaller, but the whole stone looked thinner because of the measurements...I liked more of the squarish look on the GIA one.

The problem with GIA one is that the table is 70% and it almost creates a flat glassy effect when looking from the top. Nevertheless, the stone has pleanty sparkle. And the girdle scares me since it is thin to extremely thick.

I could tell the EGL one had better color (not by much but visible) and the table being smaller, made the cut more brighter. What bothers me are the measurements, the fact that its EGL, and the depth being big. Which one should I chooce?
I can try getting both for the same price, without the 800 dollar difference.

Based on these specs, what price value would you estimate on these stones?

Thanks for helping out.

Hi Marik

With the girdles in cushions you sometimes see more of a variance, ex thick isn't necessarily a problem if it is placed on vulnerable corners etc, what you don't want is for the ex thick part to encompass a huge amount of the girdle, ask the vendor or an appraiser to check it out for you if you are seriously interested. Check also with SI clarity grades that a diamond is eyeclean very carefully, look at the stone in different lighting conditions to make sure as inclusions can pop out in some lights more than others.

You obviously are aware of EGL's reputation, I would stick to GIA graded diamonds where possible. I would say though to look at as many different cushions as you can before making a decision if you are unsure, these shapes can vary tremendously so make sure you know which type you want, for example modern or more vintage " chunky" style cushion. Apart from that, without images there isn't much we can tell just from the numbers unfortunately. We can't help you judge the faceting, pavilion mains, performance etc, all the things that need careful consideration with a cushion - could you get at least photographs of these?

Are these for sale with a store or online? I assume these are from a jeweller? If you want to purchase the EGL graded diamond, get it in writing that you have a return period agreed by you and the jeweller that you can return the diamond for any reason during the return period if you are unhappy in any way, so you can get the diamond checked out by an independant appraiser, here is the appraiser listing.

Yeah, the SI2 had many inclusions, but none were visable with human eye from any lighting condition. Most were in the back. The EGL being a VS2, obviously looked alot cleaner when magnified.

what a tough choice.... Do you guys think the 70% table is an issue?
