Is there such a thing as too much research? I'm going bonkers!
I'm looking for a 2 carat or larger stone, and while there are soooo many online, I can't find exactly what I'm looking for with the budget being WAY busted!
We are replacing my lost Engagement ring (lost in NY at Christmastime after I took bad fall and broke my hand!). My previous stone was 1.5, so hubby is upgrading me to at least a 2 this time.
Anyway, is it too much to expect to find something really nice for $20K or less? I could probably push the budget a bit for the "right" stone. (actually, when the salesperson asked if we had budget to stay in, he said "no").
We went to a local jeweler yesterday to see some stones, they were pushing the J color, which was a little on the warm side, in comparison, but will I even notice that? I was even better in natural light, but will I be happy with that later? At first look, the best one overall was the J, 2.37 carats, and SI1, but really eye clean, for just over 20K. That one was AGS, they had both AGS and GIA.
I have been obsessively looking at diamonds online for a few weeks, and reading everything I can...my brain is on overload.
Do I compromise on color, size, clarity? I do want to have maximum sparkle so have been using the HCA guide while looking online.
If I go down in clarity to a SI1, the GIA reports look pretty busy compared to the higher of course, is it possible to know what I am getting based on just that report?
My wish list would be H or better, 2.0 or larger (even better!) with all the right dimensions, polish, etc...eye clean, of course.
Any suggestions from you would be so much appreciated!!!
