Im hoping I can get some assistance here. I have been shopping online...because I have found the best prices there. Im finding it difficult to pick out what I want...and its very stressfull. So many people with a vast knowlege of diamonds and rings here I figured I could get some help. It appears people mention sites, so I found this at Diamond.com.. here are the specs. This would be the center stone with a smaller princess on each side. Any input would be appreciated more then I can say.

THANKS AGAIN!

Anyone have some thoughts...I would really liek the opinions of some of the more experienced people floating around. From my reading that looks like a good stone, but I want to make sur eits a good price.....or if someone else sees something Im missing.

Im using Diamond.com ...if someone has time....Im looking at Princess cut stones 1.0 -1.15 D-E color Ideal Cut VS2 or better , Not sure how big Polish and Symetry play but was trying to go VG or better on both. If someone has time and can check out over there and pick out some nice stones I would appreciate it beyond words. I have been searching for days!

Im very glad I found this site!

THANKS AGAIN!

its hard to say without seeing the stone....princess cuts are tricky little buggers, where the numbers dont always tell us everything we need to know.

personally, VVS2 might be alittle overkill, but hey, if you got the $$$ to spend, then by all means go for it. otherwise if you are looking to save alittle, you might consider VS1 and VS2, and maybe even a SI...being that it is eye clean of course.

polish and symmetry at VG or EX is what I would aim for.

I would like to see alittle more depth in that stone....but again, it could be a knock out....can you call them and ask them if it is in their possession?? someone there could pull it and look to let you know if it has nice fire and brillance.

color E is great....but again, you might save some $$ by going down to a F or G......I just bought a G and it is ICE white.

I;m sure Belle and some others will chime in too.....they know more than I do!

Great thanks for taking a look...........I read that upto 75 was ok for depth in a princess cut is that accurate? Anyone else have any feel on this Diamond?

yes, you are correct.....75 for depth is fine too.....I think what I meant to say was that I would like to see more contrast between table and depth...table being somewhat less than the depth

you would also want to call or email and ask for the crown and pavillion angels too....crown would be nice if at least 10%, and pav. in the 50''s-60''s.....

Ill try to do that. I was hoping someone who had used Diamond.com would chime in.....maybe Ill have to post looking for someone who has. They have been very responsive, and bizrate has them rated well. Never know who is making those reviews though.

I bought my diamond from diamond.com, and while they were fine for my purposes, many people on this site don''t use them because they don''t provide much personalized service. Many of the vendors listed here will go out of their way to find you the perfect stone, but diamond.com doesn''t do that. You pick out a stone yourself, buy it, and have 30 days to decide if you like it. If you don''t, you return it and start all over again.

I think diamond.com only sells princess cuts with a GIA report. If I were going to buy a princess cut, I would probably buy an AGS graded one. AGS came out with new grading standards for princess cuts last year, and these ones tend to be more beautiful than the princess cuts of old. Good Old Gold and Wink Jones are two vendors that carry these princess cuts. There are others, but those are two from the top of my head. You might want to check out and see what these vendors have to offer.

Thanks for the recommendations. Ill check them out as well...so far they have been helpfull and based onwhat i have seen in the local stores the diamond I listed is of same or maybea little better quality. Its very tough though not being able to see...so I actually contacted them and asked if there was a way they could send me pictures of the actual stone. Which might help a little.....Ill look into the AGS standards. That may help me some...

I was hoping one of the experts here could check out some of the stones at Diamond.com and give some recommendations....I want to stay D or probably E color for value....I havent seen a huge diffference in the diamonds i have looked at in person. I want a nice diamond, and a good price. The prices I saw there...compared to the stores were amazing. You can see the hearts break when salesman hear your looking online....they cant compete.

Anyone else.....hmmm, thought it would be easier to get feedback here.

I''m not sure I follow you... you say D or E for value??? Those are going to be more expensive....if you are looking for a white stone, and want a value, then I would consider F and G...

alot of people on here are not that crazy about princess cuts....that might be why you are not getting a ton of responses.....I had the same problem......plus, it can take awhile to go thru all the diamonds on the vendor sites....time that some people might not have alot of...

I''m no expert, but I can try to help as much as I can.

Well.... people HAVE given you feedback. They''ve given you the names of good online vendors who actually have the stones in person so they can look at them, send you pics, whatever you want. And they can bring in something if they don''t have what you are looking for.

May I ask why those particular specs? Are you extremely color sensitive to the point you need a D or E or is it a "mind clean" thing? Same for clarity - is it a matter of principle or are you trying to ensure no inclusions are visible buying a stone sight unseen?

Terrific values are there - and gorgeous stones - at all colors and clarities. The cut is the most important thing - a well cut J SI2 will always look better than a mediocre cut D VVS2.....

Have you read any of the tutorials or done a search on princess cuts? Only AGS has an actual cut grade for princesses - GIA does not, so when online vendors like diamond.com and Blue Nile, etc categorize a stone as "ideal", if it isn''t AGS that said it, it isn''t worth much.

The price is tempting, isn''t it? But - you are still here asking for input, so it sounds like you are definitely interested in getting a stone that performs well - and you can''t buy that on paper alone. So - my 2 cents are to slow down, back up, read some more, get on Good Old Gold, Wink Jones, Whiteflash, etc - and LOOK at what an "ideal princess" is supposed to be.

Just as one example, here''s a beaut at GOG:

1.06ct F VS1 AGS ideal

I appreciate all the feedback I have gotten! In my reading I have figured that cut does seem to be the most important thing. Thats why the one I listed sounded pretty good to me, because they had it listed as an IDEAL cut. I see ther eis a newer AGS rating system that alot of people recommend following. I wish they had theres rated that way. The price seems very good. Thats why I was tryying to see if I was missing something.

I have no experience doing this...outside the last month. I have gone in jewelers, looked at womens I work with...and thats about it. SOme guys I have talked to mentioned various inclusions in there wives rings but said they are things you cant really come close to seeing. Im not fixated on D....D,E or F would be ok. I havent seen much difference in those, as the color got later I could see a little difference. Just wanted to make sure I wasnt missing anything that someone here might see that would be a red flag, and might be able to point out what is wrong.

ecf8503 I really appreciate the help, and posting a good example. Definetly more money then I wanted to go....but I will check out those vendors to see what I can find. I guess if I decide I like the one I picked out...Ill order it up, and if I dont...Ill send it back.

I do appreciate the help again guys! Have learned a lot reading other peoples posts.

I''d find and AGS 0 princess, not AGS 1, as mentioned above.
0 is better than 1, which is better than 2, etc.

Go look at loose stones of colors E F G H I J in person and decide if the low color stones are worth the extra cost.
Some people have a hard time seeing the difference so they don''t want to pay the difference.
Others, like me, just want the best possible - we call that mind-clean.
Nobody is right or wrong.

Same with clarity.
You are the only one who can say what your comfort zone is.
But you have to go look at loose stones in person.

THANKS! Will do......

Yeah I had a jewler pull out a spectrum of diffrent colored diamonds. He told me to pick out the 3 I liked the most and they were the higher rated color a D and 2 f''s....but they were also better cuts on the average. Here is another I found...this had better depth, was going to have them fax me the gia so I could get a better idea of inclusions. I was worried girdle was to thin...but according to AGS Very thin girdle is ok. I will definetly use renee if I have some questions thanks

i would run the other way from a princess with such a shallow depth and bigger table. also, a very thin girdle would make me quite uneasy. those long straight sides of the princess cuts are just asking for trouble. epecially if they are very thin-very thin.

ok, yeah I had been looking for Medium.........which seems like it would be safer then the very thin girdle. I like the Whiteflash sight, and there 3 stone setting is very nice. Im going to call and talk to them tonight.

I''d find and AGS 0 princess, not AGS 1, as mentioned above.

0 is better than 1, which is better than 2, etc.

Although this is fine in theory a grade given by computer analyzed light return grading can''t always account for which is the most beautiful stone. I remember Paul of Infinity Diamonds and Wink commented in one thread that the most beautiful princess they had seen was an AGS 1, not an AGS 0. This was a while ago though, so they may have a new favourite now.

Although diamond.com has some good deals, I would rather work with a company that has the stone in stock (or will order it in) so that they can look at it for me and give me their opinion. It''s just too hard to buy a diamond based on the specs from a grading report.

If you want someone to help you find a good diamond you''re probably going to have to contact a vendor and have them search for you with the intent of purchasing from them. Although the experts here are very helpful most don''t have time to be personal shoppers. Good luck!

I still remember that stone, that particular AGS-1, I mean.

But you have to consider that this was really one of the first princesses being graded by AGS, and looking at how the current grading works, this would now probably be an AGS-0 too.

It is my impression that in the beginning of AGS-grading of princesses, grading light performance was extremely strict. Now, I have the impression that it is easier to obtain the coveted 0-grade.

The other possibility is that we have mastered cutting these princesses so much, that we have absolutely no more problems with it anymore.

Live long,

Here is the one Im going with: http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Diamond_Details.aspx?idno=2343455

I really appreciate all those who helped! The people at Whiteflash were great!

The idealscope...image she sent looked good. She said it was the best she had seen on a princess cut. Polish and symmetry were less then what I had been looking, but figured I would go E or F color....this happened to be D which is cool because I wanted as close to colorless as possible.

I cant figure out how to post the pictures or I would the images they sent. Ill have to get them uploaded somewhere and post the link.
