Hi,
I''ve been lurking this site and think that its great- I''m now wishing I new of it when we purchased my engagement ring.
I apologise in advanse for rambling. The story is for my 30th I''m getting a right hand ring, halo style. I was given $10 000 au but did not want to spend it all on the ring.
I first started with Ovals, but after having a look at some decided against due to the bow tie, I then settled on a cushion cut. Yesterday whist at another diamond dealer looking at their cushions, I saw an oval E, Si1, 1.13ct (minimal bowtie)that I fell in love with.
The problem is budget, what started at around $6000, is now up around $9000 and I''m feeling incredibly guilty. We have four children and I''m thinking $9000 on a ring is a bit selfish, even though the money was given to me for my birthday.
Any-way I have a .82, G, Si1 pear cut diamond that is from a previous ring that I no longer wear. I''m thinking that I could have that diamond made up into a halo setting and the cost would be only for the setting which I think would be around $2000. What I''m wondering is if .82 will be large enough for a halo setting ? I like pears, but love cushions and good ovals- I''m worried that if I go with the pear, I will always be thinking of the oval.
I''ve done a search on pear halo''s but all the diamonds seem quite large, if there are any under 1ct pear halo''s I would love to see them.
